Default My new spool assist and launch weapon!

I got the transmission finished up, just waiting on a few more items to arrive, so I can go back and really assault the quarter mile.
Specs on the trans....
TH400 1990 core with electronic speedo.
Fully blueprinted
JW Ultra-Bell
Griner 34G10 Billet transbrake, reverse manual, with reverse safety
Hipster's HD direct spring kit
Griner TH400 adjustable pump pressure regulator set to 225 psi line pressure
4L80E Intermediate drum
34 element sprag
4L80E Borg Warner High Energy friction and steels
6 clutches in forward and direct, 4 clutches in intermediate
Special "top secret" modification to the direct drum
Filled case for better fluid flow for high hp cars
Drilled and tapped for 7-bolt pump
RCI blanket
TCI flexplate
Custom PTC turbo converter
So I should be able to build boost and launch like a **** now.

Here is the Cheetah shifter...

And here is 1 piece of the rearend puzzle, the Moser 35 spline gun drilled and star flanged axle shafts arrived, still waiting on the rest of the rear from Midwest Chassis.

Before you install it, put an overflow line in the vent port and take it to a bottle...that will save a big oil mess on your trans blanket when you building boost on the line.

ALSO, you have to make a modification on your bellhousing to make it bolt up flush to the motor. If you look at the plate on the back of the motor there is 4 bolts on the top, 2 on the left and 2 on the right. Either grind those bolt heads down or you have to ake out some material on the bellhousing. Also since the bellhousing is much thicker than a stock case you will have to shim the converter toward the tranny a little. If not the converter will pull out of the tranny to far and you won't have much engagement to the pump. I used some head stud washers since they are hardened steel.

Yup, we removed the stock vent line, and tapped it for a fitting. I am building an overflow tank.

I tried the converter a couple of weeks ago before I pulled the trans back out. It seemed to work great, it is nice and tight, exactly what I wanted. It was built for the transbrake.

I had the 400, and wanted to see how it does. I don't have a ton of money is it. If the car ends up needing a glide, I will have to step up and get something like you have, but for now, I am going to try the 3 speed. The goal is to max out the cert on the cage, 8.50's. At that point , I will have to re-evaluate the car, and see what direction to go.

Gotcha...was more curious than anything...expecially since the deeper 1.80 first gear is supposed to help with spoolup after launch

too bad that bellhousing doesn't have a provision for the top bolt on the ls1

Yup, I anticipated that, I mocked up the bell on the car before I installed it on the trans. I milled the 4 bolts down to get the clearance. I had to dimple the floorpan a touch, just to get it up to the engine. That thing is girthy!

I choose a 3.00 gear for the 9" to help with that.
I know,I was hoping they would have gotten out of the dark ages and just added it, but of course not.

Looks good to me. That converter will make a big difference over the one you had in there.

Looks a lot like mine... It is very docile around the street but watch out once you get into it.

I am expecting the dyno numbers to go up a bunch too with the PTC converter. The TCI was hitting like 36% slip!!!!
This new one is tight.

That all sounds like it should work out really well for you. I like your choice of gearing!

Got my new driveshaft today. It is a Strange chrome moly 3" with upgraded chrome moly trans yoke. This thing is lighter then the 2.75" Spicer steel custom shaft I had.
The rearend package is supposed to ship out today. I can't wait!!!
