Default another APS... Coming Soon!

Well, after many months of watching this forum I'm finally convinced that I want an APS twin turbo installed on my car! I purchased the kit and am trying to stick with a limited budget and get everything installed next month. I currently have LQ9 heads and a Z06 cam. I have a SPEC stage 3+ clutch and a Fidanza flywheel that will be going on as well. I still need to find install parts for the heads and cam and I hope some of you guys can chime in with anything that might be helpful. My goals are a modest 500 rwhp through the stock transmission and rearend of a 2002 SS with 29k miles on it. At the moment I'm shopping around for push rods springs and head gaskets. I'm not sure what length of push rod I'll need depending on the thickness of the head gasket. So, this is my starting point! Chime in at will...

Glad to have another aps car. I think you can use stock length with your cam and heads. But of course never hurts to check.

You should easily make 500rwhp. There are several dynos of the aps if you search on here, that new 402 one is of course very impressive.

Sounds like your good to go and that Z06 cam will work perfect with what your goals areThats a perfect cam for a stock engine being force feed! Before buying ,,,i would see if APS is going to give you the upgraded hoses if not, i would insist on it!!!the stock ones are kinda flissy and are known to collapes hurting the turbo's

DO NOT USE STOCK PUSHRODS the ZO6 cam has a smaller base cricle so you have to use longer push rods. i use a push rod thats 7.425 with no issuses
your setup sounds good i have the same thing right now LOL 500wheel is so easy not even funny iwas shooting for 550hp and it came out to 650 at 12psi
i use stock 317 with dual spring LS6 intake and i ran a stock trans and 10bolt for a whole summer of getting the **** kick out of it LOL
let me know if you need more info i hope this helps

I used 7.4 at first stock length with my afr 225 and gt7 lingenfelter cam which think are very similar to the z06 cams . I bought pushrod checker. I also have 1.8 yella terras.
I recently bought some 7.425 to get a bit more preload into it . 7.4 was a bit low end of the range and 7.45 was geting higher end. It is always a good idea to check. Too low can give noisy valvetrain, too high is not good for it either.

Hey guys, Thanks for the input! MY99 i've followed your build for quite a while. I had planned on using 7.425 pushrods and 918 springs. I think I'll try to use a thicker gasket to lower the compression a little and use 7.45's. What thickness head gaskets are you guys using? Unfortunately barnat, I've already got the kit. I purchased it from a member here. I think it is one of the older kits at that. I don't plan on going any higher than 10 psi. Worse case senario I'll find something better to couple it with. I'm just trying to use what I have now.
