You need a servo to control that valve, then no bleed over at all. It will only open when its suppose to!!
Thats control!!!
It will work for twins also just like they said you are effectively reducing a/r, but you results will depend on initial a/r and turbine size/trims etc.

The bleed over happens internally in the housing, nothing you can do about that.

I actually built a servo controller for it with adjustable cracking and opening pressure based off a PIC and a MPX 2.5 bar MAP sensor. I didn't know if the servo would would be able to withstand the temps it would see or not and I really wanted something mechanical due to reliability. I'm a geek and love electronics, but this is something that should follow the KISS principal.

I am a geek and I also love elctronics, have you tried your servo control yet? This is what I have been planning to do also. I am curious how it worked for. I tend to go with more electronics but also try to have a mechanical back up that I can switch to on the side of the road if necessary. I primarily work with atmel chips right now, its funny I have read some of your posts but haven't seen the the computer/elctronics side till now.

I have no plans to try out the servo control right now. It only took me a few hours to develop it as a backup plan in case we couldn't get the actuator to work.

So in your first post you mentioned that the wastegate actuator was originally to stiff that came with the valve. Is there a specific reason why, or any difference in how to size the wastegate actuator for the valve? Also with the valve actuator are you still using the exhaust wastegate that is still in the system or is it effectively circumvented now?

you still need a wastegate. I ran this turbo without the valve and was able to spool it perfectly fine. As for the actuator, you just need one that has a very low cracking pressure.

On my Holset WH2D: Because it's diesel it came with a 20 psi actuator. I found a 5 psi on eBay for $40. I installed it and realized that 4 psi was as fast as I could spin it anyway. I didn't even need a wastegate. It just depends on the A/R and whether it's a rear or front mount.

When I get one of these I will be trying it on a Holset HX-50 and it will be used not only as A/R control but boost control also.

One of the things I don't like about external wastegates is they sound like ****. It drowns out the spool sound.

Im gonna do some stress testing of the valve on my cummins soon. I run a compound turboed 5.9 in my truck. We thought it would be a good idea if we tested them in an extreme enviroment. So Im getting a hx40 with a divided 19 cm housing to test withthe valve to see if I can spool it like my hx35 (14cm) . It will also be subjected to 1300 degrees for extended periods towing a 50 ft enclosed trailer.

It should be a good test, and maybe ad some significant hp with the larger exhuast housing. I hope to top 800 on just #2. Time will tell.

I have a 97 dodge with a 12v cummins and a big single s468 that's got it's eye on your results 1320 so keep me posted!!! I ran some low 12 second passes, best 12.07) last night at 6350lbs and am trying to go faster but being this truck's a drive i'd sure like to spool this single up sooner and would definitely like to do so at the line! It takes a while to get this charger lit on the line with my current converter.
