I was told to use small bore gaskets with 317's on an LS1 block??

We run the larger bore gaskets (5-layer 6.0/6.2) on the 317 heads on a ls1 block

Good thread this has answered a few of the questions I had.

Now what about machine work, whats reccomended for the head surface & the valves?

Dont you have to pull the motor out of the car to put the heads on with studs?

Not trying to thread hijack but I think it is on topic for this thread.

now im curious as im going to get some 317 heads to throw on my ls1 turbo...with my stock heads ( with rods / springs ) and a custom cam, im making 500rwhp comfortably.... was going to forge the bottom end + 78mm + 317 heads, now im not sure?? can i not run that much more boost into it? or would u need to get afr's or something along those lines?

( also have cometic head gaskets to use with the 317's )

Gaskets that are made for the 6.0L, I plan on using GM MLS.
