frc, Why not have a tuner do it on a dyno, monitor everything, Keep tabs on it, and make the most power possible? Im not sure what state your in, but I know a few good ones on the eastcoast, and also central states. It would prob be a much better/safer route to take. JMO

No Problem Bos, Good luck with the dyno. And thanks for the props on the sound, its growing on me and the car is stalling less now.

Noyzee, That is simple no one does tuning here in Alb, NM for LS1's its all stang tuners here. I know of an individual that is really getting the hang of LS1 edit on his car. Once he is really comfortable with it I will have him tune my car on the road. But for now I will have to go with Ed Wright. I can't complain with his tuning it has always been dead on with my previous set ups(ATI stock Block, Powerdyne Stock block) I never ran into any problems with these and was putting down some very impressive times for this altitude with his tuning. My A/F was always dead on and real safe. My old engine says it all, the pistons are perfect the heads are in excellent shape and the plugs always looked great. Me and my bro and my friend Neal all run his tuning and we never broke anything internal or due to poor tuning. I will have to call him and ask why he felt 850 was good tho? I think he mixed up my idle request with my buddy neals(neal asked for 850 for his 396 Solid Roller LT1) His car is idling high and we sent the PCMs together hmm?

*might* be going on the dyno tomorrow. The tune is way fat on the bottom, off idle. If I try to leave a light it bogs for a sec then catches and it is just stinking up everything. This PCM is definately going back for a re-tune. BUT I got on the freeway and after the inital bog this thing PULLS LIKE A MOTHER F. Regular street tires are now a huge no no on WOT passes on the freeway. Boost is damn near instant I get 5psi at a low 2400rpm.
I can't wait to see what she puts down.

Bos saw your post, I am glad that your finding the right choice of belt lengths I hope they work you deserve it.

LS1Bird Hi mike, I haven't seen you around lately. Good to hear from you. Thanks, I hope it runs as good as it sounds.

On a side note the car was just too loud so I ordered 3.5 in CCI inserts and put the plug they give you on the end welded those on, the slipped them into my LM tips(not suppose to go there but...) and welded those in there. This things rock it made the car liveable, it has no rasp or drone and I can hear my buddies if we are standing 10 feet away, we couldn't do that before these were in.

oh no, not the CCI thingees.

aren't those things supposed to be worth like negative 30hp.

I could have sworn I read a few posts where people lost massive amounts of power with those things.

now correct me if i'm wrong , but wouldn't a 3.2" and 7.8XX" pulleys put you above max impeller speed (big NONO)??

Isnt he only spinning his impeller to 52138 rpm with this combination? The max for the s/c he is using is 62000. I dont know if this is correct. I went to vortechs site and used thier impeller calculator. Dont know if the step up ratio's are different.

Just wondering. Im probably wrong................

isn't the formula:
[ max engine rpm X crank pully dia. X blower step up] / [blower pulley dia.]

i believe the step up ratio for a D1 is 4.1:1

Yes yes I know I am overspinning it but not that bad. Us high altitude guys have to work hard for boost in the teens. I would be worried about it if I was an autocrosser or openracer. The car is I hope to be a 10 sec car. The rpms that it will be seeing, will only be for a sec or two at the most. Dirty you are right about the step up for the D1-SC. There is a good chart on ATI specs at www.superchargersonline.com
Like I said it will be out of its range for a fraction of the 1/4mi pass. Its not like I am living up in the upper RPM ranges when I drive it around town, I hardly get to push the car that hard around here.
I posted that I was overspinning it awhile back, when I was going to this combo so its nothing I haven't prayed over.

PS Thanks Eric for the heads up.
And the CCI inserts are easy to take off. The LM tips aren't welded on they are held on by clamps, just loosen them up and off the tips come welded in CCI inserts and all.
