Default First passes with the new D1SC/347 firehwk

Weather wasnt that great, 2400' DA, but it was only 67 degrees. The DOT QTP tires I have on there are a couple years old and not the best but I was happy how it ran for th first time out with the car.

First pass was a 6.83/108 with a bad missfire (plugs were crapped up from a lot of idling the last few days), changed the plugs, ran a 6.42 and a 6.37 @ 110mph. Leaned it out a little and finally got the shiftlight set right and ran a 6.29 @ 111.4 with a pretty crappy 1.420 60 foot, figured that was enough for the day. Need to put it in the air and make sure I didnt forget to tighten anything up, change the oil etc. I'm on a 10 minute hacked MAF tune as well so switching to a 2 bar SD should help out some, hard to get the fueling consistent on the PE table.

With some slicks on the car and a 1.35 or so 60 foot it should run in the 6 teens (9.50s 1/4), 6 ohs (9.30-9.40s) in good weather and thats good enough for me. Tune is super conservative and I was using 50/50 93 pump and 104 unleaded, 60lb injectors are about 96% so I cant go much further unless I step up the injectors anyhow. Thats also through a Y-pipe and single 3" muffler, I'm purposely choking the exhaust to keep me from going too far lol.

few passes from today:

Awesome
So with maxing the blower out and with a better tune you'll have another 5 second D1SC LS1 car, lol.

What heads you running this time around?

I'd have to lose a little more weight, go to some 75-83lb injectors and change the exhaust to get in the 5s safely/consistently. I'm happy the way it is, I just need to get the 60' down a little. Thats 50/50 tires/tuning right now.

I have AFR 225s on it.

I'm going to leave it for now, if anything I'll put a flowmaster 3" to 4" merge and run a 4" muffler, that was good enough for 8s on my other car.

Nice runs! But I have to ask...why did you put all the effort into building a car, then selling it, then turning around and building an almost identical car? Just curious

The other car did a really big wheelstand and came down and did some serious damaged to the chassis and he decided to not fix it

Said 3560 with me in it at a truck stop scale which seems a little heavy, I'll have to wait to I get a track with a good sale and see for sure. 13.5-14psi at peak is what I seen on the logs.

I raced the old TA for 3.5 years and I got my money's worth out of that car, I had nothing against it, was just sick of looking at it. I didnt put that much effort into either of them really and the TA pretty much paid for this one.

Sometimes starting with a clean slate isnt a bad thing, the two cars really arent identical, lot of things I dd different on this one to make it easier to work on and more reliable.

It didnt hurt the chassis on the other car, it broke the oil pan/engine block, bent up some intercooler pipes and the headers. The old TA is getting a BBC and will be an 8.50 index car in Wisconsin.

Awesome no doubt for the first time out KP! You have proven time and time again that the KISS method really does work
