Default D1SC or not

Some of you may recognize my user name. I've been following this board for a while, and am wondering if a D1SC procharger is really the way I want to go. I don't want to have an insane amount of problems. I am looking for a reliable, street legal mid 10 second car. I was planning on accomplishing this with my current mods, and a D1SC procharger with 8#, along with heads/cam combo. Would it be any safer to go heads/cam/nitrous? I like the SC idea, because I want the power to always be there. On the other hand, I don't want to blow my motor, have a million bracket problems??? Whatever. Will the new ATI 8Rib pulley kit fix their current problems? And advice is appreciated. Thank you.

If ur going to have Heads(Lower C/R)/Cam why dont u go with the F1 Unit and run a 4.20" or so pulley and u will be making more power than the D-1SC with 3.60 at 8psi. That could solve the slippage problem and also u will have room to mod in the future if u decided to go with a forged bottom end. Im personally set for a F1 setup with a FMIC, but im still saving for it now. Oh by the way... If ur C/R is 9.5 or so u can run 10-11psi safely and i saw the D-1SC having slipping problems running 12psi even with the MMS crank pulley. Good luck.

anyone else have any other suggestions. Please educate me on your experiences. Should I go with the F1 setup? I know very little about the diff's, etc. Never installed or looked in depth at a supercharger. Thanks.

depends how much power you want,
i'm selling my intercoolers, D1-sc head unit and piping if your interested.
scottws6 is selling his F1 system (i think he is selling the whole kit but not sure).

i guess dependability is inversly dependant on power level ( from what i noticed) when it comes to sc setups.

I have been toying with the same questions as you. I want to do pretty much the same thing as you do. The more I look into it, the more I think I would just go single turbo. Like the qmp kit. I know it is more expensive then and ATI, but I feel it will have better benifits in the long run. If you run the bigger turbo you should reay benifit from it. You will still make the 8 to 10 psi of boost, no belts to change. Symple system, very little mantinance. Always there when you want it. No extra load on the front main bearing or crankshaft snub. Take a look at it. I have talked to a few people that has that set up and they realy seem to love it. Plus you can put a variable boost controler on it. If you get the electronic controler you can be in the car, running down the road and set the boost pressure to max at were ever you want it. If you want to set it at 2 psi just for every day driving, no problem. come across someone worthy of an *** woopin, dial it up to 8,9, or 10psi. Smoke em and then dial it back down to 2. What ever you want.
Like I said, I am pretty much in your shoes. I have the 150 shot NX N2O system. I love it. The only thing I do not like about it is it is the bottle is never on when I need it (when I find someone worth the trouble to use it on on the road) or it is too low. Then I have to pull out my Cover for the spar tire, remove the custom 10" speaker box that is now there, then take the bottle loose, then take the hose loose, take it to the place to fill it back up(if they have any or if they are even open), fill it, then put all my crap back in there. It can get to be a hasle. But it works great! The damm car is a bad *** monster with it!
Try looking at a few turbo kits before you make up your mind. I think you will find a system that will be less of a hasle, and just as reliable if not even more reliable then the superchargers out there.

Good luck with the hunt!

Michael,

I'm selling my P1SC-1 kit thats new in the box. Since my blower is a P1SC-1 it gets the same curved impeller the D1SC blower gets, plus it has a 3 year warranty, where the D1SC is a 1 year warranty. Well if you're interested in my kit comes with the ATI crank pulley, a MMS crank pulley and 2 blower pullies (3.4", 4.25"). $3850 shipped. Let me know.
