Default Meth boiling?

Just wondering if anyone that is keeping there methanol in the engine bay has noticed it boiling after running (idleing) for a long period on a warm day? (30 minutes 70*+)

What if any are the negative effects of it boiling? I read that it boils around 150* so I would think that most anyone that sits for a while would experience this. More so if your tank is anywhere near the exhaust system.

Generaly at a drag strip you may wait 30 minutes at a time so I am thinking about making some sort of heat sheild for the container.

Only people i have heard of it boiling for where living in 100-110 temps with it in engine bay
The down side your losing meth out you vent tube and losing a little cooling power heat shield good ideal

WTF, this thread just got me thinking...

You guys are talking about straight meth... What about meth mixed with water? 50/50?

Does the boiling temperature change? Does the meth boil or evaporate and leave water behind?

Don't mean to hijack, but this is the first time this question has been raised, and it's a good topic, these questons all being related I think.

For the most part, no. It will boil somewhere between the Meth boiling point and water boiling point.

Works OK on the street, fails every time at the track. Going to relocate pump and tank to trunk if I ever stop being so lazy.

Im wondering how much good some sort of heat sheild around the container would do. The under hood temps would still be the same right?

Running pure meth ate the seals on my WW fluid tank.

If its a 50/50 mix then it will boil at the weighted average of the two. So it should boil somewhere around 181F.

Makes sense... Thanks.

Running just 50/50 ate up my seal where my WW pump used to be after a few months and also by the meth pump nozzle around the bottom... Used some "Amazing GOOP" brand sealant around those areas, and there are no more leaks. That sealant was recommended to me by a Snow representative... It's supposed to be 100% alcohol and fuel resistant.
