Default Next mod,Meth or e85?? Turbo car.

Okay so as usual I got my new kytp ac setup with a tc78 tuned and runing great. It did 620whp and 705lbft on a mustang dyno through a 9inch at 15lbs. My first pass yesterday was a 10.6@130 and then i got kicked out for no cage.

Naturally being a complete speed junky and needing to spend all of my money on my car and nothing else I want more.

I really want to run 9s and im maxed out on pump gas. With either one of these options im going to get retuned with a 3 bar map and im going to up the boost to about 17ish.

The meth would be the easiest at about $500 bucks and another $150 for the retune. The e85 will cost me about 1500 with the injectors/rails and a more expensive tune. And isnt going to be that big of a pain to get but id actually have to plan out trips so i could find stations.

What do you guys think? Also Im still on a factory 241 head with arp studs. Am i asking for trouble running 17 maybe 18psi? Keep in mind i would only upp the boost if im running good fuel (e85 or meth)

Alex

Methanol gets my vote. Turn the boost up a bit and the A/F may be right on the money. Adjust the meth nozzles until you're satisfied. You may not even need a retune (if you have a wideband). You will be getting a cooler charge and more octane, 18psi should not be a problem.

im gonna run e85 for the pure reason that ill have more power all the time as opposed to running out of meth then low on power. Tune it for e85 and youll have the power 24/7. Its like nitrous, once your out... YOUR OUT! So why depend on something you can run out of?

I run E-85, so I am biased.
Run the E-85 it's safer. 105 octane, cools the intake charge, and wont run out when you need it most.

My stock short block has been on it for almost 2 years making about 630 rwhp uncorrected.

Before I got twin pumps and bigger injectors I went to the dyno to see where I was at with my street tuning.
I made 654 corrected rwhp, 545 uncorrected, at an AFR of 14:1 and 22* timing.

E-85 has a max power lean AFR of 8.5:1, so saying I was lean would be an under- statement.
My logs showed no KR at all and no knocking was audible.

I curently run 26* timing at 12 psi. and 11.3: compression.

and now word on the street is you dont need to mod anything to run e85. You can run all reg. lines/seals etc. Well from everything iv been reading from a few e85 sites.

All I changed was the pump and lines from the tank to the stock steel lines at the filter.

My vote is e85, been running full time for the last two months..no issues. Just make sure your injectors are big enough, the hardest part in your tune will be getting AFR to idle at 14.7. Plus e85 makes the car sound different and smells different. Won't burn your eyes if you are running rich. Also, swap out your fuel filter after your 1st tank and then after wait a couple more tank fulls and swap again...e85 will clean out all the gunk in your tank.
Oh, your seals will be fine, I've been filling up at the same station and found a couple other people with late 90s running e85 simply b/c it's cheap and the last guy i spoke to says he's been running e85 on his beater Monte Carlo for over 2 years now and reports no issues. just fyi

max where are you getting your E85 locally? I'd love to run E85 but thought there were only 1 or 2 stations in our area.
