Yup, I agree with you on this. I'm pretty limited on facility but thankfully I do have a garage. Definately miss having my dad's shop to work in but my little two-car garage is going to have to suffice. Plus everything is going to come out through the top.

isn't it the mahle powerpack pistons that are junk? I have higher compression mahle pistons in my boosted motor, 10:1 on 72cc chambers...have had no problems so far and car is making some pretty good hp.

Here is the build:

Mahle Powerpack 3.905" MAH-LS1314905i16 9:1
Compstar Rods
ETP 225
Yella Terra 1.8
Comp 235/239 .685/.689 114+2
LS6 Intake, ported TB
STS 67 dyno tuned 12psi, 520/535

Now looking for a 5.3 to get it running asap...

Is that .689@1.8 ratio? If thats a spec @1.7 then @1.8 you got .729! hope not...

Sounds to me like tuning issues...

The stock factory pistons are mahle castings and take more than you have given yours. Id be inclined to find a new tuner. Get a maffless tune done on E85.

Best of luck, as my will and wallet would have given up long ago. What kind of hp is the car making on the dyno? For what its worth, my car in sig has stock longblock and has 145,000 miles on it with 10,000 of those being boosted. Hope you figure it out, sooner rather than later...

Ditch the MAF---they suck with boost. the pressure coming in is something they were never really intended to see for the most part.

drop the timing.

run better fuel.

read the plugs more often.

get a new tuner.

end of story.

Holy ****! Talk about bad luck. Good luck with everything bud hang in there! My 2. Cents run meth and get a different tuner . I've been making 600+ rwhp for 3 years on stock bottom end. 2 years with nitrous and 1 year with blower. Been running speed density the entire time.

i lost #7 on my motor too due to a bad tune. ive also been told to not eliminate those coolant crossover tubes in the rear to help assist cooling in the rear cylinders
