Default Need some advice.

I am looking for a set of good pistons for a stock bore LS1. I want to run HIGH boost on pump gas. Just wondering what you guys would recommend and where I can find em. thanks a lot!

FYI Its going to be a turbo. T-76. Looking to hit around 800 HP to the wheels through an automatic.

go with diamond or wiseco

you need to decide what heads you are using and what chamber they are so you will know what kind of dish on the pistons you need to get to a good compression ratio for boost

you will see alot of guys run around 9.5 to 1 on their street cars so they have good throttle response and then use meth if you need it to get higher boost

on a good intercooled setup with 9.5 to 1 comp. ratio you shouldnt have any problems running 12-14 lbs without meth maybe more with a good tune

you will probably have to push that turbo pretty hard to hit 800 at the wheels

rear mount setup?single turbo correct?are you gonna be able able to supply it with fuel?

Its a front mount set up. I will have meth as well. My fuel system has been proven for 1000 plus whp. I will be upgrading the turbo pretty quick but thats just what i have right now...

HIGH boost and pump gas- isnt something thats real safe and dont really go together..

Same advice here!! stay away from the mayle pistons if possible A few guys on here haver have probloms with theres

Yeah I think I'm going to go with Diamond. How big of a dish should I go with and what heads would you guys recommend. I'm kinda a noob when it comes the boost motor part.

317# truck heads would work at knocking the compression down.

alot of guys run the 317 truck heads,it doesnt matter too much seeing as how you will be forcing air through them

if you are going to be wanting 18+lbs of boost you may want a good aftermarket head with a thick deck

it all depends on how deep your pockets are

if you are on a tight budget go with the 317 heads,that will give you around the 9.5 to 1 comp ratio with flat top pistons then you can get the dished pistons to go a little lower if you would like

as stated earlier high boost and pump gas dont mix to well so if you are going to want much more than 16-18lbs i would lower the compression down in the 8.5 to 1 range

people are doing 16lbs all day with a little meth on 9.5 to 1

317 heads will be fine for 16 psi.. arp head bolts... it all depends.

what size turbo are you planning on running?
you need to provide some more info on what you plan on using your setup for.

I have a T-76 turbo right now. Plan on upgrading in a year. So far I would like to do a stock cubed LS1. Money Isn't to much of an issue. I will have meth. The turbo set-up is based off of an OFI kit. Fuel system has been proven for 1000+WHP. I'm either going to run E-85 or just pump gas. Its going to have a stage 3 FLT tranny. Going to need some help on picking a stall for that. And as far as the cam I am looking for the Hannible Lector cam or something with a very lopey idle with decent street manners. Anything else you guys need to know ask.
