I think that plug selection should be made based on the power you expect. I wouldn't run a TR6 on anything over 400 RWHP just for safety's sake. I would run a NGK 7317 (#8) gapped at 28-30

Yeah, I pushed mine too far with the TR6's, it was too hot for my application, even on E85. Of course 16 psi and 24* timing didn't help!

I wouldn't run a projected tip plug in a high hp forced induction application. I am running NGK-4091 which is heat range 7 and is a non-projected spark plug gapped at .029.

It's all about tuning for your combo and street/strip cars have a lot more room than race cars do when it comes to selecting plugs.

TR6s gapped at 28 running with 18 degrees of timing at 19-20psi on pump gas and meth can get you hot lapped 9.4s at 149mph in some cases. Yes an A2W intercooler helps keep those IATs down where everthing is comfortable. In others, TR6s can be a D'ohhhhh!!! but 400rwhp sure isn't the limit to them unless you've really messed something up in a LSx combo.

Simply dropping in colder plugs isn't always the answer. You're trading the colder plug which makes less power, all other things being equal, in the hopes that you can throw more timing or boost at it to net more power on a given fuel combination. You need to get out and tune the car to find what the sweet spot is for your combo and your power goals.

I am running the TR6's here as well. 538rwhp with mine on 7-7.5psi. And I DD it. No problems with the plugs in my application.

Yes, seems from what have seen that a TR6 is just fine through 600RWHP unless you have a crazy stupid tune it.

I run Autolite 104s after switching from the TR-6s about five years ago. .032" gap on Procharger P-1 @ 13psi and making 600+rwhp.

Is that plug good for daily driving?? I mean I run tr6 and meth mainly for top end runs so my wot is alot longer that the drag racer. Im just wondering because that is one of my fears to loose a plug at over 180 mph I even it but first hand is always better.

I think I'm going with ngk 7173's on my current build. I searched and searched on here and it seems to be a good plug for my setup.

I have made around 1000 rwhp is 3-4 cars, and 500-800 on a handful with tr6's at 30. I know that people reccomend using a much colder plug for that power level but I tried switching and didnt have much luck.
