Turbocharged LT1 Spark plug boots burning - help needed!!
I have a 355 LT1 with a front mounted T76 turbo. The headers are obviously flipped around so that they come forward for the turbo. The only problem is that one of the spark plugs nearly touches the header now (two back, drivers side.) I have an Accel shorty spark plug installed. There are Taylor spiro-pro spark plug wires. With the spark plug boot on the spark plug it is maybe 1-2mm from the header. I have the fiberglass spark plug boot heat protectors over the boots, but it still seems to burn the boot through the boot protector. The headers obviously get very hot due to it being a turbo car. Does anyone have any ideas on how to stop this problem?

Thanks for the response. I am going to wrap the header, I already have 90 degree boots on there and they are the only ones that will work. I will try to get a picture, its pretty tricky..

With 1-2mm gap, I don't know how the wrap will fit. Coating the headers is good idea.
I can only think of thin aluminum plate inserted in between and attached to the headers to reflect the heat away from the plug wire boot.
Get a picture and post it.
