procharger set-up
alright excuse my lack of knowledge in this subject, but iv got a few questions about a set-up i am building. as of right now i have an LM7 5.3 iron block that is bored to a 5.7, has the stock crank, lightweight piston heads, stock piston connecting rods, iv also got a set of stock 317 heads. now my question is what sort of cam should i get for it, or just get a stock cam?, which pushrods would anyone suggest, same with springs, or if the 317 springs are fine, and which kind of lifters, or if the 317 lifters are fine. and i dont really know much about prochargers, but i want to eventually have over 500rwhp. any help will be appreciated, thanks guys

Ok, that was a little rough to understand, but here we go....
You mentioned "lightweight piston heads", I'm guessing this means you have purchased aftermarket pistons? If this is what you meant, what are the pistons specs? Are they boost pistons or just a -cc flat top piston?
On the springs, I'll go ahead & suggest a Patriot Gold Dual spring kit. Comes with everything you need to replace the springs for about $255
On the lifters, there is no such thing as a 317 lifter. So on lifters you need to look into a set of LS7 lifters which you can source many places. Last time I bought a set they were $110 shipped from SDPC.
On the cam you should look at some of the sponsor offered blower cams or something small like a 224 cam. You could also run a stock LS6 (often refered to as a Z06) cam as well.
What are you doin about a oil pump? Stock or aftermarket?
I'd also suggest what was suggested to me once I decided to look into a Procharger system. Do TONS of research & fully understand what your getting into before you commit. Get a plan together & then start building/buying.

im working on the understanding part right now, i just have the block cause it was 100 and the heads cause they were cheap, but as for anything else i have nothing, and idk the specs on the pistons, my friend pretty much gave them to me, ill have to ask him what they are exactly, all i know is that they are lighter than stock pistons, but the reason for me starting this thread is to pretty much learn more than i know and figure out what i want to get, before i get it, so i dont make mistakes and spend unneeded money.

Dan I think the pistons are Diamond -2cc. Did you already send the block to get done yet? The valvetrain u wanna run should match the cam you choose. The zo6 cam like already mentioned is a nice boost cam to run for cheap.

I wouldn't worry too much about the rockers they should be fine. But on the pushrods it depends on the cam but when u but a cam kit it will come with pushrods springs seals etc. Just decide on a cam and then choose the right pushrods and springs. Do some reading in the internal section there is a lot of info on the subject.

honestly im not too sure, its mostly a street car, and i would like to get to the track more often, but i want somewhere around 650, iv been looking at the d1sc procharger, it seems to be the size alot of people have, but idk, im also planning on building my own kit and not buying everything together, and i honestly dont know how much one of those goes for. and i believe the heads are pretty much in close to perfect condition.
