how much can stock ls6 handle
ok i am new to the lsx world and i currently have a 91 camaro but am looking to purchase an 02-04 z06 in the near future when i return home from iraq.... i used to have a cobra i know ford lol please dont hurt me haha.. but anyway i had a supercharger on it and i had to build the bottom end and rear and do supporting mods like fuel and air and i know what the stock motor would handle on that car was.... my question is if i bought a supercharger kit how long would it last on the stock motor before the bottom end came apart? or would i be able to put it on and start building the motor i want in the mean time? and what kind of power numbers could i expect and what would a safe amount of boost be for the stock motor?... thank you in advance for your advice.

either your being sarcastic or you meant to say 8psi.... but thank you for the input guys makes me want to come home and get the vette even more now seeing that i can just put a blower on it and make some decent power till i build the motor.

it depends on the tune you can get, as i am sure you know so much of it is in the tune. These motors dont get hurt that much if the tune is ok. But if you have the motor out put upgraded rodbolts in is and i would not even flinch to make 600rwhp on it and still daily drive it.

At 8 psi of boost on the stock bottom end, most of these engines last for a very long time. We installed a D-1SC on my Camaro back in 2002 when the engine had 110,000 miles on it, and it lasted for a very long time. Several years later we got bored with it and cranked the boost up to 15 psi to see how long it would hold up. It lasted longer than we thought it would, and made several trips to different drag strips. Here is a link to my Camaro from back in the day. http://www.exoticperformanceplus.com...Car.php?car=55 Bob

Yes 625 at the crank is easy with a good tune. I made 640whp with a aps kit on a 02 z06 2 years ago. He does 20-30 min track events and street driving. Its a deal where he has plenty of $$$ but his wife says he cant build a stroker until this one breaks so its obviously its lasting. Now if he was a broke college kid it would have broke a while ago.

When people talk about a "good tune" are we talking about conservative timing and AFR on the safe or rich side? Because on my boosted motor I never see any knock retard and my afr's are always on the rich side. I run 8lbs boost. I'm planning on running a 75shot of nitrous at 100%tps, my car runs and feels great but sometimes I would like more on top that should put me at 625-650 crank horsepower.
