Default Which lifters for Boosted apps?

Hey guys, just curious what you are running for lifters. I will be buying a EPP Blower cam for my pretty much stock motor with 317 heads. I saw Pro Magnum lifters but it needs to be on an adjustable valvetrain and I don't want to upgrade rockers, etc if I don't have to.. Any recommendations for a good replacement? Mine are ticking

My builder talked me into the new Comp Cams short stroke race hydraulic lifters. I paid 10% over cost and they were still about $450. But I'm using a big 242/248 .624/.624 cam in my 370 and will be running 15+ pounds of boost and spinning it to 7500rpm.

How much power are you looking to put to the wheels?

I'm also building an all forged 370 in an iron block, and planning to stuff 15+ PSI through it...I have a power goal, but I think it might be a little too ambitious...my main focus when building the engine so far has been selecting the strongest parts possible within the specs I want, so I'm curious whats your goal is.

I'm building it to be reliable with 1000HP at the crank. Then whatever that is through my TH400 to the rear wheels. My builder also wants me to use billet timing gears and an oil pump with billet gears. He says the cast oil pump gears on the stock stuff can shatter.

Cool

If you got a ton of money invested in the engine the morel link bars are worth the money in my eye's

I run them in a few jobs now and sold a few set's and they are very good-

Which lifters you use should be determined by how many RPM's you intend to spin, weight of the valve train and the base circle on the cam. It doesn't mater how much power you make, whether it is a nitrous or boost application.

I'm no cam expert but my understanding is that as they get into the higher lift cam lobe designs, they have to reduce the base circle of the cam so that it still fits in the hole. Once that base circle starts getting too small, you start running the risk of the lifter coming too far out of the cup causing it to spin and wiping out the cam. I have run stock rockers and LS7 lifters to 7600 RPM and .625 lift without issue. For anything higher lift, I would feel more comfortable with a longer lifter body like the Morels.

i just got the EPP Blower Cam that has the following specs: 232/240 .595/608 on a 115 .. coupling it with the LS7 Lifters and Comp Cams 7.425" hardened pushrods (hoping that length is gonna be ok)

Did you buy the set with the link bars? I would assume they also drop right in, without the lifter trays?

The picture shows link bars. However when I called my builder he said they didn't have them. I need to figure this out because I'm not spending $450 on lifters if they aren't link barred together.
