I think you going to create to much oil pressure in you turbo that going to push oil into the turbine. You need a bigger drain line so the oil can flow freely.

I don't see why the timing cover wouldn't be a good idea.

Other than belt routing possibly being in the way.

As far as drilling/tapping the pan for a fitting.. it kinda needs to be clean and off the engine lol. I know people try using grease and stuff like that to catch the bits of aluminum but damn man... lol..

If the timing cover is convenient then try that because you can remove it a lot easier than the oil pan.
