You don't want to create more exhaust than your turbo exhaust housing can collect...

With a 346 cid LS1 feeding a single turbo mounted in the engine bay, you definitely want a .96!

I hit 500 with an MPT-70 at 10 lbs. of boost on an LS1 with just pushrods and valvesprings.

I forgot to mention, that was on 10 psi and on a shot of methanol/water...

Without the meth, I had made 430 rwhp and 480 rwtq on 8 psi.

With the meth and at 10 psi, I made 48x rwhp very safely.

as of now the shortblock is completely stock with the exception of a ls2 cam, double roller timing chain, arp head studs, and ported oil pump. the heads are 317's that have had a valve job and prc dual springs. this is going to be an extremely buget build. as of now i have $50 in the engine, i still need to buy a set of main/rod bearings and the shortblock will be complete. I have a set of TBSS manifolds that were given to me along with an ls1 intake, tb, injectors, rails, and coil packs.

my goal is to have right around $1200 in the project once its running, including engine and turbo setup.

and i may be flamed for this but i AM going to buy a cheap ebay turbo to get everything going.

Do NOT do that... you could take your stack of money and throw half of it in a fire, and put the rest in your pocket, and you would still be better off than buying an Ebay Turbo!!

Let me put it to this way...

I bought a brand new MP turbo, my T-70, four years ago for around $700.00.

The turbo had maybe 5k miles when I removed it to install my 76...

After cleaning it up, the thing looked BRAND NEW. I listed it for sale for $350.00 and it never sold. After a month or two, I changed the price to $300.00. Finally, I sold it to a buddy for $250.00, a MPT-70.

That turbo is going to run 100k and it cost someone $250.00.

In NO WAY am I recommending that someone buy a used turbo... I'm just putting some perspective in the sense that there really is no excuse to buy an ebay turbo... There are alternatives just as cheap that are less dumb!
