air filter question

is there any downside to doing something like this vs. a cone filter???

all depending on how tight that mesh it I would think that its a benefit, in his case he really can't run a filter.....unless you want a pinched off 90* bend

it seems like it should work well but in the back of my mind I am thinking there is something I am missing. Otherwise why would we not see more of this vs everybody using K&N cone filters?????

I'm running a custom mesh screen on my YS Trim for now due to space constraints.

Not a direct answer but purpose built race cars typically run screens.
