Default Stock Cubes for Turbo

Is it best to stay stock cubes for turboing?

I heard that boring weakens the block(with the turbo), and it can hurt the motor, is this true?
Thanks

well when you bore a motor you are making it weaker because you are removing part of it. and as far as it hurting your engine, well as long as you dont get carried away with the bore and your PSI is suitable to your C/R.

What kind of horsepower numbers are you looking for? If it's somewhere around 500-600hp, I would just stick with your stock bore. You should be able to spool a nice sized turbo pretty well!

As all would say... best way to learn the basic is read Corky Bells Maximum Boost..cover to cover, then re-read it and do the equations. It's just plain fun.

If your planning on rebuilding the bottom end, you can bump the compression ratio up a tad bit. Meaning use pistons with a 9:1 or 9:5:1 compression. That will net you faster spool up and more efficient combustion, than going with an 8:5:1. What this does is, enable you to run lower boost, but have the same results. Example: 18psi on an 8:5:1 compression motor, would approximately be 14-15psi on an 9:5:1 cmpression.
