You sure do.

Brakes = grind down the rear calipers to fit 15" wheels and install some 4" wide wheels up front (lighter and helps with weight transfer).
Suspension = adjustable front shocks in the front to allow weight transfer to the rear
tires = drag radials, as big as you can fit
roll bar = remove front roll bar to help with weight transfer

I feel a lot safer going WOT in my car after all this since it doesn't spin as violently.

except passing someone was a little scary, you had to baby the throttle or
go up in smoke, lol

4" wide wheels on stock brakes isn't too safe on the street shutting down from 160mph, but that's just me!

I thought so too at first, but it works much better than I expected. A 5-6" wheel would be better for street use and lighter than the stockers. I haven't been able to find one that works for my setup that I like yet so I just run the summit knock offs. There are no corners to carve in Vegas so it works well for my environment.

Basically what I'm saying is that once you go past a certain point you have to sacrifice something. You want to corner, you sacrifice straight line traction. If you want crazy power, you have to sacrifice cornering ability. Only real way around the trade offs is to go AWD.

I think that the definition of too much power for the street is that you cant go wide open throttle without losing traction.

Default Answer: 4wd fbody

The folks at Dallas Performance have a video up on youtube that demos a boost controller of sorts for manual supercharged cars. Pretty slick.

The street driving I did with 540 rwhp, 1st and 2nd were pretty useless, but those IMO are the most important gears. Any decently powered 4wd car can smoke you while you sit there and spin.

I run around around on the street with enough power to run 9.90's. Just have to learn to drive it. I am pretty good at racing AND showing off. I was doing burnouts starting at 50 MPH last sat at our car show. They loved it.

On the street I do pretty good as far as racing. I got beat by a 1K bike from a roll this year though.

never too much..just not enough tire IMO..and thank god soembody else thought about the suspension and having the right chassis combination..power is greaat more power is even better...but you have to find a way to be safe at the same time..or atleast that is the exsceuse that i use to mod my car lol

If you can't get the Chevy dealer to give you the keys to a new Z06, look for a friend with a relatively new liter sport bike. If you have not ridden something like this, it is an eye opening experience. You can build a car this fast but it will cost a lot more and you don't get a warranty.

That being said, I would avoid large hits of N2O for street car - a little violent and kills traction.

Ahaa, I was wondering if you were gonna chime in here. That vette of yours is the sickest street car I've ever seen.

To the OP, search for this guys' build up thread; I dream of having a car like this someday.

Try a new CTSV with TC disabled on for size. Heavier, more low end torque, and less tire make for a really fun driving experience. The lack of tire grip makes it much more fun (scary as hell) than the C6Zo6. Having actually driven a 1KHP vehicle on the streets makes these threads funny. Freeway burnouts might look cool on youtube, but having zero traction at 70mph kind of sucks.
