From what I have red alot of people who run a basic turbo setup (t70) break 600whp at this mark. I think Parishs buddy is looking to go into the 8's with a stock long block with a ls6 cam but dont qoute me on that. So depending on your turbo Id say you should be there.

You may need a little more than 12 psi to break 600 rwhp. I think that I was around 750 when mine popped. It was bone stock though. I think that one of the stock rod bolts let go but I haven't pulled it apart yet to be sure.

I would love to see that but I doubt that the stock pistons could take that.

With good fuel and tuning the stock rods are the limiting factor. Pre 05's are good for about 800fwhp and the lq9's and 05' newer engines are good for 900fwhp or a little more. Afer that the rods bend/break. If the fuel is not good enough or the tuning is not on they all break shortly after 500hp though.

This is way more tune/rpm and user related the hp.

Mostly tune.....but if you monitor knock and dont spin the crap out of it, it will live a long happy life.

If the engine is 100% stock, with a T70 (front mounted), supporting fuel mods and such I would say 12-14psi is what it would take to hit 600whp witha 6speed.

I am planning on 600+ on 8lbs and 700+ on 12lbs (Yes, I will test it to it's max), but my 6.0 has a custom cam, arp rod bolts, springs, pushrods, timing chain, pump and such. Also I am using the MPT76 with a Q-Trim wheel and 1.00 housing.

Remember, a LS6 cam or boost cam can yield as much as 100rwhp with no other mods and the same boost level. Search it...

98Z28CobraKiller - I think you would have easily hit the 9.xx with just a cam swap.

i dont beat the hell out of her. just a few pushes on the road, nothing that i think would hurt, say raising it to 14 psi w/meth with a real good tune would do the trick? its got the cam, springs and pushrods, are there any minor things i could change to help the motor?

drop the pan and replace the rod bolts.

The new cam will be in the new forged bottom end currently at the machine shop.

I would have ran the 9 if I wouldn't have chunked the plug just after the 1/8th mile on that last pass in the video.

What about the compression? I was told with the stock compression it was not safe to run over 8psi. That you needed to lower the compression to run higher boost and a good fuel setup.

Yep, I have to agree here. Stock48 pushed his to the point of destruction and the rods where the week link. Tune was right on, AFR was low 11's and never detonated, just bent and broke the rods in the mid 800 RWHP level. His setup was a pre-05 stock bottom end 6l with hand ported heads and a TC 76 turbo with .96 a/r. Put his 4900lbs 4x4 truck into the mid to lower 10's and upper 120's in the 1/4.

a stock lq4 is 9.4:1
it can handle 10+psi on pump with a correct tune and sufficient fuel system
