Wow! What an interesting thread! The results are quite surprising to me too seeing them so far spread apart.

Yeah while I have taken lots of advice and picked peoples brains over the years I still have a few ideas that I test and this was one of them. I think it was about 18lbs at that point in the RPM's and 16* of timing. I am sure that there are a ton of different ways to slice bread, I still like to try different ways lol. No real ***** down low allows for some good traction for the car to get motivated before the power hits hard lol! It would suprise some how effective it is.

Not a problem I just didn't get to vote lol! On the turbo car it is @ 8.2:1 so I guess I could have put that one in there. Still over all I go lower than most and this poll backs that up, but I do continue to run on 93 so I shoot for the lower side and it allows me some aggressive tunning if I want and No2 as an option etc... I do have meth kits I haven't run them in a while, but alway planning on installing them when I get busy with everyday stuff and other people's cars got another one in a few days ago. Its and 01SS Speed Inc. built back a few years ago. A few things don't seem like Speed Inc. quality so I can't confirm all, but some of this stuff looks like a 5th grader did it. But you know how that is you never know the whole story behind someone else's project.

It comes down to low compression and high boost or higher compression and less boost. Then you have to decide if you want to run meth or not as well. So many variables its crazy to see the differences in everyones builds. Great thread!

i just found out that a shortblock I purchased on here is going to be 8.1, so i guess I will be able to run some really aggressive timing on pump gas no meth.

Why not higher compression and lots of boost ? I think it all boils down to exactly what the build is for. Street motor with pump gas, low comp wins unless E85 is readily available. Race geared motor, higher comp with good gas. Also depends on what kinda block/head combo you're gonna run.

Guys, thanks again for the votes! All your input is greatly appreciated. Looks like the majority is starting to level off in the 9.0-9.5 range.

I run E-85, but this is what I've got. 11.3:1 with a small cam (224/220) 4.0 inch blower pulley netted me 750 corrected.
I'm currently building a new 347 with a bigger cam 3.4 in pulley and about 13:1, results pending.

so if i had a forged 6L (hopefully 402/8) motor built with about 8-8.5:1 cr, would it give me problems or ride too much like crap if it took me a while to get the procharger installed? If it was tuned without boost, would this make it safer? sorry f1402Z for hijacking
