Thanks, I was too... Something in the rear let go on the starting line on the 1st pass. We should have it apart today, I unloaded the car yesterday after getting it cleaned up. Bob

Bummer. I guess if something didnt break, it would be too easy, right? Keep us updated when you get it all figured out.

We are, I took the center section out of the car yesterday and we dropped it off at Moser yesterday afternoon.

We think we know what happened, and it is because we are too use to racing cars with a spool. We found out that with a locker you have to do a dry hop after the burn out to engage the locker. If you don't do this you can end up with too much play in the locker before letting out the clutch at the starting line. This probably would not be a problem with an automatic as power braking the car at the line should engage the locker. The pinion broke clean off, I took a picture of it, I'll get it up today. Moser is setting up the center section for us with a Wave Trak, it might be finished today for us.

It's too bad you didn't make it, I wasn't doing very well either as I have a pinched nerve in my neck. I kept putting off having it looked at until after the Shootout, and I went to the doctor's office Monday right after getting back. I walked into a waiting room full of sick people, yuk! If I left there without picking up a disease I'll be very lucky.

I'm glad to see the cam is working better than you thought it would, that is great! Thanks. Bob

Interesting. What is a Wave Trak? So how does a locker react in a 6 sp car with that much power Bob? I'd be worried it would unlock & lock back up every time you shift making the car hard to keep straight.....unless you're power shifting.

I have a lot of information regarding the Wavetrak at this link, you'll have to scroll down to it.

The locker can indeed lock and unlock when shifting, we didn't notice a problem with it in this GTO at all, but I do know that it can happen. Bob

We got this GTO back together with a Wavetrac. The car turns so much easier than it did with the locker, it made a huge difference. We decided to take the car to our local track last night. Brent ran the car as I have a pinched nerve in my neck. He came out at 4000 on the first run and it hooked so hard it bogged. It went a 2.?? 60 ft, granny shifted it to a 11.30 or so at 134 mph on that run with the blower belt slipping. We tightened down the blower belt and Brent went back to the line for his 2nd run and came out at 6000 rpm. Keep in mind this 809 rwhp GTO has a Moser M9 with a Wavetrac, 3.50 gears now and a torque arm, with M/T 325/50R15's. Something broke in the built 6 speed trans, car doesn't move in any gear.... Oh, did I mention I drove this GTO to the track... We needed to get break in miles on the drivetrain. We're picking it up today. This car desperately needs a 4L80E transmission. We can tell this new rear is going to work great, even with the stock front suspension! Bob

Bob, glad to hear Rodney from RPM is picking the car up for you from Muncie. They are a class act.

I'm glad to hear you guys got the car back together, but what happened to the tube chassis Goat with the F3R????

I was looking for it on your website and couldn't seem to find it, maybe I overlooked it.

I think Cody is going to want to stay with the manual. Thanks Chris, I just want to see this car 60 ft like I know this new rear is capable of!

The tube chassis GTO is in limbo. Ted, who was driving my Camaro, was spearheading the GTO build and his own business (non automotive) has gone downhill with this recession. You didn't overlook it, I simply turned it off for now as I got tired of looking at it too without any updates. We have a lot of time invested in this GTO, but if Ted's business doesn't turn around... who knows. Thanks. Bob

It didn't use to be the problem it is now, there are too many 1000 hp cars running around. Bob
