need a muffler recommendation
Need a GOOD bullet style muffler that is only 6" long max and 3-1/2" I.D. My rear mount is WAY to loud and need something to make it street legal or atleast a little more tolerable.

I hear ya! (No pun intended - really!)
Yeah, I put a 3" ID glass pack on mine post STS install; before that it was sooooo loud I couldn't even hear my CDs even turned up to eleven.
Any mom & pop muffler shop that deals with trucks can do this; have them put the glass pack in "the loud way" (i.e. - with the internal baffles open towards the outlet side - NOT the turbo side) and you'll minimize lag.

Vibrant makes race mufflers that are either 5 or 9" long, they work really well. Guy in wyoming has a 5" downpipe straight out the fender of his nova with this muffler and its very tame, not loud at all.
Jump on their website and you should find it.

The Vibrant race mufflers look more like resonators and I can't see a muffler with that little baffling doing much alone..But what about adding it to an exhaust that already is using something like a Borla XR1 or a Magnaflow race muffler? Anyone ever place it a couple of inches before their muffler, to act like a resonator? They arent priced bad at all either..We just fired up my new setup today, and will be welding a 4" Magnaflow race muffler after the y-pipe and will be dumped at the axle. I am hoping it isn't TOO loud. If it is, any reason why someone couldn't use the "muffler" pictured below to help quiet down an exhaust that is already too loud without too much sacrifice in HP?

Sure its not the quietest muffler setup but in these links you can see its Way Way quieter than all the other cars.

But its still loud no doubt, but in the OP's space restraints this might help.
He runs the 5x5" vibrant muffler.

GeeTeegO (I believe is his name) had his STS setup with a resonator pre turbo. You can read about it on ls1gto.com just search STS muffler, I believe the thread is STS an audible solution. Seemed to help with spool time as well and that's how I am doing mine. Just a straight bullet resonator from vibrant (amazon has it for 45 bucks) pre turbo.

I think Burns and Vibrant are the two small muffler/resonator solutions that come to mind. They will definitely help tame the sound down but we are talking like maybe 20-30% at the most, from how loud it is right now.
