Ya, HybridZ has a whole bunch of LS V8 powered Z cars. And a few of 'em are doing turbo set ups too! I may have figured out whats up with my Missing problem. I swapped the plug wires to some custom wires I made back in the day. All of the wires route back behind the manifolds and connect to the plug from under neath. I used the cheap 30$ do it your self summit brand plug wire kits and bought LS1 coil ends. Seems to pull pretty good under boost now.

Okay guys! Been a while since I have posted any updates on this car. Things have changed a little bit since my last post too. Currently the car is running on MegaSquirt2. Runs BEAUTIFUL! pulls smooth, no lost sync. issues, no miss firing. All it took was an update of the firmware, and it made things run a lot more stable. A few months ago I managed to break 2 piston's ring lands. #5 & #7. I have swapped out the old LS1 block with a Gen3 5.3 from a Silverado. Swapped over everything from the old LS1 long block, over to the new one. I have also swapped in a Borgwarner S475. AND I have converted the car over to an automatic trans. How about that for some change!

The diff is not the problem, Its the axles that break. In my previous pics you can see the two Stock Q45 axles used to make one new axle for the Z car. If you go to: http://home.tiora.net/davidc/?path=D...%20Diff%20swap You can see some pics I took of swapping in the Q45 diff.

I've got an actual air filter on the car now, no more metal screen. And yes, it's held on by a hose clamp. No zip ties! I'm currently running 9psi of boost. Running a high 10 AFR, roughly 13* of timing. And I ran a 6.9 @ 103 in the 1/8 mile with a 1.7, 60ft. The car has got a TON more in it. More boost and tuning, and the thing should be trapping over 110mph. Here is a youtube video of the track night.

The Q45 diff is also an R200. So is the Z31 diff. Q45 and Z31 have CV joints which are much stronger and reliable. The Stock R200 axles are U joint axles, I have broken 2 sets of them in one month before. As well as all of my Z car buddies. Swapped over to the Q45 stuff and have bent diff mounts before the Axles gave in. Some people have good luck with the stock axles, most don't. Just one of those things I guess. And I have not seen anyone break the actual diff either. They seem to be pretty stout, and if need be picked up dirt cheap at junk yards.

I still have the stock s14 rear in now but swapping today. Welded the stock diff and I did 1.41 60 ft on motor. But I've broke 8 axles and a few axle flanges along the way. I'm ready to try the Q45 setup.
Congrats on your progress so far

I just read u have never seen anyone breaking the q45 diff either. I have heard this before also and hope everyones right lol. I took it apart to weld it and really there is no straight forward way to weld it like an open diff. S14 guys have it easy with the axles in the swap just need a drivers side q45 axle and a drivers side 300 zx tt axle. When I saw that u modified them I thought u meant with a stronger center section than a q45. Now I realize that u did it to fit them. Sorry for the confusion. Keep us updated

The manifold is made up of Weld el's and T's, extremely simple, yet effective.

TH350, rebuilt it with a summit rebuild kit and a transgo shift kit. 3500 stall converter.

I actually ordered a new turbo. I have the S400 with the 1.32 exhaust side, and it was WAY too laggy. Looking back at my logs I'm seeing 9psi at just before 5k rpm. So I ordered another BW S400 with a much smaller exhaust side. Should be here on Tue, then its off to the track on Friday!

do you have any pictures of the manifolds?

What exhaust flanges and weld el sizes did you use?

I'm currently using Vbands now, and not the 2 bolt flanges. As far as size goes.. I believe they are 2.1" ID. Schedule 10 if I remember correctly.

i remember seeing the last picture on the turbo forums.

What exhaust manifold flanges did you use? I am assuming you welded the weld el to the face of the flange, rather than passing through the exhaust port hole. Is this correct?

Correct, the weld El is larger OD then the port on the flange. I actually ended up having to cut the entire manifold off the flange and add 3/4" spacers. There was not even enough room to get the Manifold bolts in there. I ordered the flanges from, "Gmpartshouse.com" roughly 30 bucks a set.
