Would be cool on the F series blowers. Those things are LOUD and can get annoying if you're around em long enough.

No I haven't heard one personally. I can tell you though, that the noise you hear with the straight cut gears is greatly determined by several factors. The smaller the pulley (for more boost) on the head unit, the less the blower makes the marbles in a can sound at idle. An F Body kit at 7 to 8 psi of boost is more apt to make this sound than a lot of the other systems, as a spring loaded tensioner helps out to quiet this noise. Bob

The only noise I typically hear with an F series blower is the loud whirling noise, which won't change with the helical gearset. This loud whirling noise seems to be an excellent deer deterent! Every vehicle should be equipped with one. Bob

Thanks Bob. I am running a 3.5" pulley right now. It did go away for a bit, I got a few things I am still working out on my kit. I suppose when I upgrade the one in my TBSS I need to go ahead and go with a F series

Amen Brother.

keep in mind the bypass and air whoosh would still be there, you would just be cutting out the gear rattle and nails on chalkboard screeching sound

Exactly. I'd rather surprise people than have people assume too much about my car. Being heads, cam, headers, intake, I simply tell people it's just got headers and an exhaust on the car. I've got my tune nailed down pretty well so there isn't much lope at all.

What can I say, I like the sleeper effect.

The gears may be stronger, however they will require slightly more power to drive them. This may or may not even be a factor.

This also crossed my mind, don't helical cut gears cause slightly more friction than straight cut?

Yes, because of more contact area.

So has anyone heard one of these yet? I am strongly considering them but would like to get some feedback from someone who has seen one in action first

I use to have a P-600B. Made great power on my stock LT1 but sounded like dog s**t at idle. The big joke was always "my water pumps broken wanna race". It got old after a while. After that went to the dark side and got a huge turbo. I like Prochargers new approach though. Great company.

wish they would make the f1a with a quiet setup.

Thats like the only reason I went turbo, didnt like the whine. I like my car to sound halfway stock.

this sound just drives me insane!

Just came across this old thread again. Just for anyone interested my d1sc with the helical gears is still going strong, very quiet and honestly can not hear the blower at all. Have about 15k miles on the setup now, and I drive it very hard. Aster bracket helps with the noise some too I'm sure but really you cant even hear the blower even with the hood up listening for it, so smooth. Now the ati red race valve is a completely different story lol
