Nice build. Those are some awesome skills you have. I think the weld looks nice, I wish I had the talent to weld aluminum like that.

Got some work done this week. Heads are on, motor is back in and got the intercooler discharge situation figured out/welded up.

Ready for installation!

Here's the charge pipe ready to be tack welded.

All welded up now

This is the most fun part of the build for me! It finally feels like I'm getting somewhere since I'm getting down to the final assembly stuff!

Thanks. I'm using a Harwood 3.5" cowl hood, so luckily I have a good bit of clearance.

I see your build is coming along really well! Looks good bro!

I'm sure you'll get there. You got a pretty determined mentality. I'll be happy if my junk is in the 9s!

So what's everybodys opinion about this pipe? I have a 3" adel wiggins assembly to put right after the bend, but I was looking at it and it doesn't seem like it's worth the effort to put in. Do you think the reducing coupling at the throttle body will give me enough flex for the engine movement?

Increase pipe diameter and weld one Wiggins ferrule to throttle body. I guess that would require purchasing another clamp though.

How rigid are the motor and intercooler mounts?

They are just regular urethane mounts. Not solid or anything

The coupler is pretty flexible. I guess a bellows style would be even more flexible if I end up having a problem.

I can't see it being an issue the couplers are fairly flexible.

shorten the 3" inlet pipe a little more. Then you have "more" coupler that will alow more flex. Make sure you have a bead on the end of it so the coupler won't slide off. And use T bolt clamps. Build Looks nice!

It should be fine the way it is. The motor shouldn't move all that much. If it does, strap it down. I would be more concerned with your exhaust plans than that charge pipe. Because the DP is solid mounted to the turbo and the turbo is solid mounted to the exhaust which is solid mounted to the motor.

What problem do you think I'll encounter with it? Anything I should change?

Thanks,
Frank

I always add a short section of flex pipe in the down pipe to combat movement/vibrations. a 4" to 6" section usually does the trick
