Need help with fixing my APS kit

Default Need help with fixing my APS kit

As we all know the APS turbos are crap. My car has been sitting in the garage the past 5 months and its driving me nuts. All i want to do is fix the turbo and put it back together and drive the car to enjoy it. I know my driver side turbo is blown the car smokes like crazy and at an idle you can see the coolant dripping out of the downpipe where it connects to the y-pipe. Sounds like to me the seals are gone in the turbo or its cracked internally. Does that sound like everybody elses problems with this kit? Anyways what should i do? Get it repaired or just buy a center section. If so what center section? Whats the cheapest way to get this car back up and running without spending alot of money?

Yea i was looking on there web site and i know about there up grades but like i said i didn't want to spend alot of money fix this. unless they can repair mine and not upgrade it?

Cheap Fast Reliable, choose two.

Rebuilding a turbo should cost under 500. Jose at forcedinductions could probably even rebuild it for ya

they should be rebuildable, they are 20g's. and a aps 20g should be a mitsu 20g. except for the housing

They are 20g but knock offs most likely at least some of them were..

I have some plug and play cartridges that think will sell . Kando dynamics and they say they are genuine mits . Lowbird was running them you can search his name when his failed.
These have upgraded wheels as well. They are brand new .My aps looks like have made it 6000 miles but one had internal crack from day one and have been running it oil cooled only.Water cooling is optional on the 20g ,oil is mandatory. Other one seems to be ok too. I checked drivers side for shaft play and it was fine maybe 1000 miles ago. Should have checked passenger but haven't been seeing clouds of smoke.
I may sell off both my aps turbos for pretty cheap but not likely taking them out of car until maybe closer to spring. I am going to upgrade to LG most likely.

I have kept my aps at 7.5psi not boosted them up. And kept rpm pretty down as well. That might be one reason mine seem to have lasted a fair bit longer than many other peoples or maybe not all the kits got knockoffs. Still aps should only have sold genuine mits there is no argument there.

Oops didn't read this two good. If your turbo is cracked internally like one of mine was then you should run car as it would put coolant into the oil..very bad thing!
If its only that problem you can run oil cooled only. If its blowing oil big time then likely shot bearing and should mabye also be making noise and not boosting very good. Course with two boosting not as noticeable when one fails.

I have one I can sell you. I just lost my passenger side turbo a couple of months ago. My driver side is still holding together well and not leaking. I just upgraded to the Forced Performance ones.

Your like 2 months too late LOL I had a brand new one a few months ago that i ((gave)) to another poor soul. He just paid for shipping for it!LOL as i too upgraded to the LG's and no longer needed it!Sorry

i rather buy somebodies stock turbo that has about 1000 mile knowing that it works ok then a new one
