I am re-using my speed inc comp SC2 cam (224/232 .581/.595 114+2) on my current 370/ F1 combo. I originally got this cam for my last combo (346/P1 that made 632rwhp with stock truck heads) because I had heard of good results from a local guy who picked up something like 80rwhp on his stock long block with this cam alone and 10psi. The cam has been great. I am currently using AFR 225 heads and even had these heads on the last 346 combo for a while with decent power. It may be a tad small for me now though with my current combo. I may upgrade to the EPP blower cam eventually..

In the new year I'll be testing a cam with a 253 intake lobe.

Since mine is 95% street, I start worrying about going too big in duration. I don't want it to sound like a racecar and I don't want it to have crappy manners at locked-up, low-load cruise speeds. Anyone have ideas for a solid roller, 434/4L80E/3.73/YSi/Big FMIC setup with great heads? I use Comp's Extreme Energy street roller lobes and was considering going from a 242/248 on 115 to a 248/254 on 115. After lash and rocker ratios (1.7I, 1.8E) are taken into consideration, the 248/254 would behave like a 245/252.

Jim the 239 cam is my car now and the 248 cam is my friends car-both are cars a daily drivers, I put about 300 miles every weekend on my car driving back and forth from Champion, even with the auto I was getting 24mpg.
The 248 cam see's alot of driving, it's gone from Toronto Canada to Carlisle, Michigan, and NY. On the highway it still get's decent mileage as well.

Both cars are SD tuned, it takes alot of time but when done right, the car just purrs.

From what I understand the new 253 cam is actually bigger than it sounds-we'll find out soon enough.

And what's your exhaust side look like? These are HR's, right? And what LSA are you running?

Thanks.

Most excellent, tnx. How did you settle on the large split, with 15 extra degrees on the exhaust? I see Comp doing that on their new LSX centri cams. How much of it is due to the auto? Your car is sick, btw...

That cam was designed by Ed Curtis-it works great. But my testing has shown the 6 or 8 degrees splits build better torque.

See thats what I'm wondering too. Since I'm plannin a 370 almost identical to yours I was wondering how the extra cubes would effect that cam since it's smaller. I was wondering about how the EPP blower cam would perform in this combo as well.

I might be needing to buy a cam sooner than expected & it'd be nice to know which of the 2 is the best choice for a 370.
