It's a matter of "why not" more than anything. Assuming price is relatively cost effective, it's only $200 for the machine work. While the jury is still out on how effective 1/2" studs are over stock, they certainly aren't going to hurt.

200 sounds extremely cheap for the machining.
Im sure there are places around that could make a set of custom studs if ARP arent being helfpul. Although I'd have thought as they would know the lengths involved, surely ARP could supply studs easily enough. Its just a stud after all, all they need to know is length required.
You'll be cutting threads to suit.

You would think so, right? The sad part is ARP quoted us almost $1000 for "custom" head studs. I was honestly blown away.
