Too much lag and only 5psi of boost! Please help!!!

Zombie, thats what I am thinking too. Thats why I sent my convertor off to get the stall loosend up to 4000+, andI am going to get a 2 step too. I think once I have the 4L80 in it with a transbrake and a 4400 stall and 2 step, the lag will be gone. I am thinking of putting another layer of wrap on the exhaust to try and help hold the heat.

When was the last time you checked your spark plugs and wires? I had a huge lag problem and ended up being one spark plug was not lighting. I was hard to diagnose because the truck still made lots of power even on 7 cylinders. I changed out stalls and spent many days until one day it clicked to check my plugs. Once they all worked the lag was gone.

New build with new plugs. At least two sets of new plugs.

you need to put alot smaller a/r housing no bigger than a .91.what are the cam specs.
ive changed a/r housing on my rearmount, like night and day difference keep reducing it till u hit what you feel is good for you.i hit 7lbs boost off the line with a 6spd.

There is a whole other thread that you need to read that fills in the timeline from then till now. He got it worked out.

That's interesting about the converter, my issue is my convertor is to loose and doesn't place enough load on the motor, I don't know what my stall is now but it was a 3200 before adding an extra 300hp. I can stall the car up against the footbrake to past 3200. My issue is when you launch the car it builds boost very slow in 1st, shifts to 2nd and starts building boost. It builds boost faster and pulls harder rolling into the throttle lightly than stomping on the pedal and flashing the converter. I can cruise down the road at 2000rpm and rev the motor in gear to 2500 and the car doesn't change speed.

I have a new converter on order.

Yes, I do have the lag issue worked out, at least at the track. I still have lag on the street, but I wanted and very much so need it there. Well, really I need to lower the boost on the street. The car make soo much power on the street. So much so none of it can be used.

The answer for me was a combination of things. First was getting away from the 4L60 and going to the 4L80. The 80 is much stronger (so I do not fear making boost on the line) and it has a better 1st gear for loading the turbo. Second was going to the transbrake were I can go WOT and load the engine 100%. Third was getting the stall speed in the sweet spot for my combo. I also put a two step on it but I am not using it right now. I am going to the track this weekend (if everything works out right) and I will start to play with it and see how much more boost I can make under the TBrake with the 2 step. I also have an electronic boost controler now that I still need to put on. I hope to have it on before this weekend so I will have the ability to set my max launch psi with it, and also have the ability to set my make boost off the Tbrake. I am hoping the 2 step will not only help me make more boost, but also make it build boost faster while on the TBrake, and then set up the boost controller for max boost while still having good traction, and make whatever boost goal I have while running threw the quarter.

If you are looking for a convertor, I would strongly suggest for you to contact Chris at Circle D. Best damm convertor out there and his support can not be beat.
