yes they had two J-brackets for sale besides the Aster. i forgot the price of the lesser expensive one but the more expensive one is $394 and the only difference i could tell from the description is a tensioner is added to the more expensive one.

what i need to do is call Brute speed

does the SDCE cost $750-800 on top of the cost of the standard ATI J-bracket?

Yes, you have to send SDCE your bracket for them to modify it. The ProCharger complete J bracket that I sell for $394.00 is the ProCharger 8 rib J Bracket. If you're running 8-12 psi of boost it works very well. Past 12 psi of boost I would go with the Aster bracket. Bob

How many different sized pulleys can you typically use for the same blower belt? For example, if you have a 4" blower pulley and want to drop down to a 3.7 or 3.5" pulley, does it always require a shorter belt, or is there a range that one belt will work for? I use the SDCE setup but I have not changed the blower pulley so I wasn't sure since there is a little bit of adjustability with the tensioner.

Yes you need a shorter belt with a smaller pulley. I oreder a 3.4" pulley from SDCE and they sent me a shorter belt with the pulley.

Edit... Right now I have the 8rib 7.25" sdce crank pully with a 3.7" blower pulley and it uses a (gates) belt that is 53-1/8" long.
The belt they sent me with the 3.4" pulley is 51-1/2" long.

Maybe I didn't make my question clear. I already have the SDCE setup (7.25" crank pulley) with a 4" blower pulley. If I was to simply drop either down a size or up a size on the blower pulley, would they both require different belts? I am actually running the belt SDCE recommended for their setup with a 4.25" pulley. Everything fit perfectly and the "marked line" on the tensioner is where they recommend it to be. I didn't know if there was a range of pulley sizes that can use the same belt or not.

I thought I made my answer clear, LOL. If you change the blower head unit pulley you WILL have to change the belt. I put the sizes that I'm running so you cold see the size difference between the 2 pulleys VS the 2 belts. So going from a 3.7" pulley to a 3.4" pulley requires a belt that is 1.625" shorter. The spring tensioner will not take up enough slack in the bigger belt.

What was the reason for sdce changing the size of the crank pulley?

lol, no problem. i have talked to two people who used the same size belt when they ran the 3.7 and 3.4" pulley. i guess i will have to take a look and see what will fit best.

there are clearance issues with the larger crank pulley. i don't exactly know where because i have never tried it. i was thinking someone said near the waterpump??

I thought the same too, dropping that little of a pulley size doesn't seem like much. Wendy told me to use the smaller one with the pulley swap. All though if your going to take the trouble to remove the blower from the J bracket you might as well spend the extra $20 and use a new belt.

If that is the case then I assume changing the water pump to the one used with the aster bracket will allow the use of the original procharger crank pulley?

I've wondered the same thing, but I don't know of anyone who has tried it with thew SDCE bracket. Bob

So you have to run a different water pump with the ASTER bracket ?
Also is the procharger crank pulley a 8" ?

They used to be a sponsor here, their shop got flooded last summer and they had to get that sorted out. I think you have to go to the 8 rib with their set up.

Yes you run a Corvette LS2 water pump with the Aster bracket, see the link here. http://shop.brutespeed.com/Aster-Aut...er-Bracket.htm
You use the standard ProCharger 7.65 crank pulley with the Aster bracket. Bob

Thanks Bob, I ordered my entire kit from them back in 05 so it came with their 7.25" pulley and the J bracket support bar. I never had to deal with upgrading some of the standard procharger parts.

That ls2 water pump is definitely lower profile than the ls1, and the blower belt is very steep going up to the sdce tensioner. I think it would hit the pump with the 7.65 pulley. You probaly could get away with the 7.65" pulley with the sdce if you ran the ls2 pump as well.

Heres a pic of how close the belt is to the ls1 water pump.

Default Here it is!

I chose to make my own tensioner using a tensioner many of you may have seen. The car is a 2000 TA with a 408 and F1R procharger.

After a lot of research I found a perfect diameter 8 rib pulley I had stand offs made for it. I also had the additional idler pulley and standoffs made. Its working well so far I see 20 psi in my near future. Ill post of when I have more results available. Thanks for looking!!

Notice the water pump clearance and the standard 7.65 Crank pulley

Very nice. I'm sure it will work well over 20 psi.
