would you back off and retorque, or just set the wrench at 85 or 90 and torque it. I was looking thru the build sheet and it is possable the heads have o-ring receiver groves in them. Now I know what you are thinking... "what kind of idiot knows this little about the engine build?" Could this cause an issue if the Cometics were installed bolted down without the rings?? just a thought. At this point I am considering pulling the heads and taking a look.

Cometics Head gaskets have a ring already made in them. The reciever groove should line up with the ring in the gasket. This could be your issue?
Yes, just back off a tad and then re-torque the head studs.

so far the issue is on the dr side, however, none of the rocker arm bolts were sealed and they were seeping oil into the intake port. Not bad though. That copper crap is hard.. I don't see how anything can leak on those heads.

A little thread sealer is a good idea to keep the oil out of the intake passages on the intake rocker studs.

Here is the damage.. The gaskets and torque was fine, but one of the cylinders on the pass side did not look good. I saw a part of the valve guide area missing in the port and what looked like a repaired chamber. I did not look at this when I put the intake on. It looks like it was there before the motor was assembled. The pistons, cylinders and everything block wise looks new and ready to go. The gaskets were not all that bad, but I don't think I will reuse them.

What do you think? I was thinking about sending the heads to Texas Speed to be looked at and investagate the option of transfering the parts from my heads to a newely CNC pair of theirs if they are beyond repair???

I have still not verified the heads are leaking? Next to cometics, what is a good head gasket to use on a boosted engine? max 18 to 20 PSI.

The strock GM MLS Gaskets are good as well. I am not sure what to think on the intake port being seperated like that. The porter definatly went a little to far. Maybe the broken part leads to a water jacket in the head and is getting into the cylinder that way?? I have heard of this happening before? I would see about a new set of heads as well.

Thanks Hunter, i agree. I don't think I want to trust these heads.... however the valves , springs, and retainers have 10 miles on them. I need to see it I can get a bare casting with 2.02/1.60 valve openings.

Sounds like a good plan as long as the chambers are good on your boosted combo & dont jack your comp. thru the roof.
