What are some reasons to go with a custom piston?

Tighter quench? Compression? PTV clearance? Other?

shelf pistons aren't made to handle 2000+hp,they will just break apart

Are they made of different materials? Coated with something?

I have a BME piston from a top fueler car as well as a BME rod from Clay Millican's car. Neat stuff. I guess they are all billet aluminum.

material thickness in certain areas, skirt taper, amount of eccentricity of the skirts, ring location, pin oiling, etc. lots of things.

BME stuff is forged aluminum

That hood is really sexy. I've been on the edge about it, but it looks good from straight on.

Any chance this car could be at the Street Car Super Nats next year? Would love to see it in person!! Would also love to go to the LSX Shootout, but Memphis is a pretty long haul for me, live in Montana!! Vegas is closer!! Amazing track, think about it!!

Not that it is gonna make a difference but LSX Shootout is gonna be in St. Louis now.

FYI, Memphis Motorsports Park has closed. The LSX Shootout has moved to St. Louis. Whether or not we go in 2010 to LSX, will depend on what NMCA/GMPP does for changes. It is going to take some drastic changes for me to want to go to that event again. It is a cluster ****, with in my opinion NMCA sapping big sponsor money, and delivering a sub par event, while at the same time sharing their own NMCA finals. I bet they get quite a bit of revenue from it, no wonder they get all huffy when I bring up a much needed NMCA/GMPP divorce.
My thread, I will say what I want.
We will likely stick with southern and east coast tracks this year as we shake out this monster.
Happy New Year!!!

The car is going to NRC Motorsports Jan 9th for the 25.2-25.3-25.5 SFI cage. I can't wait. Once that is done, I should be able to get most of the wiring done, and mount the intercooler/water tank for good.

VERY nice, friend's car has a 10 point from NRC and top notch...my car will go there when its time for a cage, they get **** done FAST too.

Yeah I can't wait. They come highly regarded, and you can't beat the turn around time.
We are fully equiped to do cage work, but I have a lot of customer work to get caught up on right now, so I can be ready for when the cage is done to start assembling the Trans Am.

Ha ha! Even though this K series made 662 whp, I would need a couple of them under the hood of the TA!
Still trying to figure out how to get V-Tec on the C5R..........
