Default What are you doing about crank case ventilation

This crankcase ventilation thing has been giving me fits. I had what I thought was the ultimate solution (an electric vacuum pump) but it took a puke after only a few hours of operation.

What are you guys running?

Stock PCV ports off valve covers Tee'd into one line, the line runs through a catch can, and then into the inlet hat on the blower.

So you have no fresh air source? In other words, no air going into the crankcase besides blow by.

How can you be running the stock ls6 style PCV system. You must have the fresh air nipple on the TB plugged, right?.

Also, stock PCV means no ventilation under boost, right?

Upgraded PCV setup. Similar to bomax only I'm not running back into the inlet hat. Just venting to the atmosphere.

Ehh, no pcv, no tubing, just a air filter works fine.

I have 99-02 valve covers, and have the covers looped in back and I have an outlet hose on the front of the passenger cover that vents to open air.

I probably need that for each cover seperately.

I have a 4/6/8 caddy elec evac setup but I have not installed it and it might not pull enough. How much is needed?

two breathers one on each cover and the hose off the passenger side going to a catch can, venting to open air. I also have the LS6 valley cover with the pcv set up for the LS6, should I also tie this line into the line going to the catch can, and cover up the pcv inlet on the intake manifold?

Valve covers tied together and vent lines. PCV line followed by check valve into intake manifold. Breather on passenger side valve cover. Also line going from valve cover to just behind air filter (Incon kit). I could get rid of the line from the valve cover to the air filter, not really doing much.

Anybody try integrating the stock AIR pump system into a crankcase vent system? I heard that some of the LT1 guys do that.

my 98 back two valve covers tee'd into pcv then to elbow on vortech setup, front pass side valve cover goes to catch can then to intake.

white hawk, if you can keep oil out of it, it works good at moving air through the motor (ventilation, not vaccum)

i ran one connected to an rpm switch on my car for 4 months maybe, but i was pulling some oil through it and i think that's what eventually killed it.

.. fwiw i did not notice a decrease in mileage or oil color/contamination or performance by leaving it off... so i left it off.

wonder if a belt driven pump would work better then the electric one.

if i could just fit it in and keep the AC.
