How much PS! is robbed when using a intercooler? How much pressure is lost through the intercooler?
Also the air to air intercoolers are all over the place in price, from 700.00 down to below 200.00. What should I be looking for?
If I am looking at around 6-8lbs do I want 2.5, 3 or 4" piping?

Depends on what intercooler. The optimal one....zero.
Its like asking how much gas "a car" will use to drive 100 miles. Depends on what car.
No real reason for your piping to be much bigger than the output of your turbo. The bigger the pipe, the more volume the longer it takes to compress.

the generic ebay intercoolers are very popular, low in cost, and generally lose about 2-3psi.
But you also have to realize that when the charge cools across the intercooler, it becomes more dense and will drop in pressure as well. So losing psi across an intercooler is not always a bad thing

I have an ebay intercooler, just curious how you guys measure and why? What the significance? I suppose one could measure just to find out the efficiency. Do people reference boost off of right out of the turbo? And if so Why? I reference it at the manifold because thats where I want it. If I want 15psi at the engine I couldnt care less if the turbo is putting out 16 or 17. I would think that is irrelevant. So when I set it up to 15psi, I have zero pressure loss and always maintain 15.

My only measurements were on my old supercharged trans am. It made 11psi non intercooled, and after i added the front mount setup it made 9 right at redline. still made more power than at 11, but it was more than a 1 psi drop. also remember that I added about 8 feet of piping in doing so
