Default ProCharger Qs

So here is the deal my buddy bought a procharger and intercooler only not a complete kit and changed plans and want to sell for 1200. I am new to FI but would love to have one. How much would it take to make this system operable and what power should it put out? I have a 2002 Z28 LS1 with 66k. I am not wanting to go extreme yet cause its a dd, I drive all over the country only 2 years ago it had 27k on it. I am wanting a good solid set up and wanting it to last. Any help would be awesome. Thanks

Regardless of whether it's a P1 or D1 headunit, $1200 is for the headunit and intercooler (hopefully it comes with all the plumbing) is a good deal. A few years ago, I purchased my headunit for about that very same price and pieced the rest of the kit together through Bob at EPP. Overall without including the price of the headunit itself, I spent a little over $4K (if I'm not mistaking) to get completely new components to make this kit complete. Powerwise, it all depends on what pulley combo you use and reliability all depends on supporting mods and your tune. My post may be a little vague but I hope it helps out some way.

You can find most of the piece parts you need to finish your system at the above links. There is also a copy of the ProCharger installation instructions to aid in figuring out exactly what you need. Bob

I do not know what size the unit is yet I just found out about it yesterday and got very little info. I do not think it has the plumbing included. My buddy has an LT1 but the guy he bought had it on an LS1. I will try and find out more info today.

So this is what he says its a p600b one without self contained oil. It already has the smallest pulley on and the guy said it made like 14-16psi on an ls1. Which I dont want that much PSI but that is easy to change. This is what he has for it supercharger, bracket, intercooler and a mess of brackets and 6 rib pullys and some oil lines. So I dont know what I am getting into but sounds like a good deal to me but I have no experience with this kind of set up.

The P600B was used a lot on LT1 and 5.0 Mustang's... it is also a obsolete model. Those kits can usually be had for fairly cheap ~$1500.

So are they any good? Is it worth $1200? and are they a very reliable system?

I personally wouldnt run one of the older non-self contained units. The newer versions will be alot more reliable & efficient. You can sometimes find a good used D1SC head unit on here in the sale section and then piece the rest together. Thats what I'm doin & have saved about $600 so far on parts.

Or would I be better off with a H/C setup? I am wanting at least, a reliable 450HP that wont effect my mileage to much.

Also keep in mind that there isn't a bracket to put a P600b on an LS1.

Go with a H/C swap. You can get the 450hp that you want. It would just be easier IMO

What would you go with? I still need drivability without being radical and would sacrifice some power for that.

I would think the TEA LS6 Stage 2 Heads would work pretty good with the right cam. I'm no Cam guru so I'd get someone elses opinion on that. Myself personally, I would just call VA Speed and have them spec me one... This will also save you about $1500 or so opposed to goin with the Procharger Kit
