Default Question about EPP FI cam

I've been trying to get ahold of Bob at EPP for awhile but I guess they're goin through some things so maybe you guys could help me. When you receive this cam does it come with the cam card with all the specs including the intake centerline? Also has anyone degreed this cam when putting it in or just dot to dot? Im trying to decide if I should buy an adj. timing chain so I can degree the cam or just keep the ls2 I have. Thanks

Bob posted his cell number just give him time he will get with you. I installed the cam straight up dot to dot with a degree wheel, and yes the cam comes with the card.

Well "technically" if you ask professional engine builders, a cam should ALWAYS be installed & set-up using a good degree wheel. Granted most cams are perfectly fine lined up dot to dot. In fact thats how I did my current cam. But I have heard more than once using the degree wheel is the absolute best way to do it.

I'll be using a degree wheel on my EPP blower cam in my 370 build.

I have degreed a small handful of cams and found 2 off significantly. Certainly enough to justify putting a degree wheel on it. I am actually in the middle of swapping and degreeing a cam in my car. It's extra work, but well worth the effort. As to the idea of getting an adjustable timing set, if you get a degree wheel, go through all the trouble of degreeing it and find your cam is off and don't have an adjustable timing set, then what? You'll be pissed!

Ok Im going to order this cam. I already have an ls2 timing chain and I dont really want to spend much more money because right now my budget is tight. Would it really be that important for me to wait awhile to buy, say, a Cloyes or something? Or are these camshafts usually grounded well so I could just slap my ls2 chain on? Im stuck now, I need more help making my decision please.

I just put this cam in and i degreed it and i had to set it up 2 degrees advanced because it was off the center line so i would suggest buying a good adjustable timing chain or waiting until you have the money to get both. Good luck with your decision.

That is shocking as Comp grinds our cams, but speaks volumes as to why cams should be degreed in. Bob
