Default Getting oil off wrap

I have titanium wrap so its water and oil proof but I had a PS pump go bad and leak PS fluid all over the wrap on my collecter before the turbo. I had the car on for about 30 minutes intermittently (I was afraid the pipe would get too hot and catch fire) and it was smoking a ton and seems to have no end to it lol. Is there anything I can do to help this process along?

The only thing I have ever done that actually worked was to remove the wrap and wash it in hot water and a bunch of Simple Green.

Otherwise (like you found out) it smokes for a long time. Maybe go for a long highway drive, like 2-3 hours?

I was in anchorage yesterday. I dont know how the hell you live there all year.

But uh...as far as your question. I got a pretty hefty amount of tranny fluid in my wrap and it took about 2 hours of constant driving to get the smoke to stop but the smell stayed for a while, so I would definitly try the simple green bath!

I think Ill just spray some simplegreen on the wrap and rinse it off. In the position its at it would be a major bitch to take the wrap off.

hahah same thing happened to me! but i melted through the pressure side of the PS lines and shot oil all over the place on the dyno, which caused a nice fire :-/

we got the fire out quickly without too much damage, but now all my wraps are soaked!! i just sprayed 2-3 cans of brake cleaner on them and let it dry after, its still smoking a tiny bit, but not too much.

try the brake cleaner (when the motor is cold)

Watch that stuff when you heat it up - if you soak the tape with brake cleaner. Some of it is VERY nasty stuff when vaporized. Saw a welder's story where he got one small puff of brake cleaner after he hit a wet spot with his torch and that little puff caused full kidney failure and some other nasty symptoms. He is never expected to get back to normal.
