Oil drain?
Oil drain? The shop that is doing my turbo kit said this drain set-up will work fine. Im just concerned that with how the fitting is, its not going to drain back into the pan as it should. Please let me know what you guys think. He has done some really nice builds before but again Im new to the turbo stuff and most guys dont do it like that. Thanks in advance for any tips or pointers.
how is your oil going to go UP? I really hope your running a scavenger pump. It should be either in the timing cover, or in the side of the pan towards the top facing in at 90* so gravity can allow the oil to flow into the pan
There's a guy that had the same shop do a twin turbo build for him and they did the drain the same way and hasnt had any issues what so ever for like 3 years. I understand what you guys are saying because its the same questions I had. Just want to get some opinions. The shop owners says if my car is the first that it doesnt work on he will fix it.
Well... how is the fitting on the other end? I would suppose that as long as the turbo is still higher than that the hose would fill up with oil and push it out into the oilpan, in a very roundabout way.

Not right. It may even work but it is not the correct way to do it. Why chance it? Who knows what weird problems the other guy is having, smoking, excess oil consumption. You'll never hear about it.

yeh that should work fine but I agree with worrying about deceleration. I would have been scared to put it there just cause it might hit something

thats the thing though, the turbo is maybe 4-5 inches above the drain. Its set-up kinda of like the turbotechnology kit like what mighty mouse has. And im not real concerned about it under braking because its going to have to be constant pressure to push it back up into the turbo but who knows. Trust me though, im pretty worried about it but he says it will work and other people seem to agree.

I'm not doubting that it will work. I'm only concerned about you hitting the neighbors cat with you drain line which may in turn either tear it or pinch the line shut. Either way it's not going to be a good outcome. It doesn't take that much common sense to realize how bad of an idea it is to tap into the bottom of an oil pan on a street car. Maybe it's different where you live but living out in the country I hit **** on a daily basis.

I saw a chevy torque converter in the middle of the freeway once, no bullshit. it may be low but theres no reason to make it the lowest part of the car, thats asking for it.

Where the **** do people live that you have to worry about hitting **** with the oil drain? Im pretty sure your bumper should take care of most big **** and the smaller stuff will be too low for the drain to come near. If this were an issue, those PS lines right there would be mangled. Just sayin....lol
thanks for the info guys. Im not the smartest person out there but I also agree it will work and Im not saying its the wrong way just not what most people do. As long as it works and doesnt damage the turbo I dont care.
100% will work, on my jeep srt8, the vortech kit had the drain going to the oil drain plug on the pan. thats right, the bottom of the pan. i never had an issue with draining. also it was nice to not have to tap the pan in that situation.
