Default looking into procharging the 408

I've been looking into prochargers and was thinking of a D1sc. Im would like to stay on 93 octane i would go e85 but the nearest place to get any is 3 hr drive away. im running about 11.34 : 1 compression which i was going to change my heads and cam anyway prolly the epp LS Forced Induction Camshaft and some trickflow heads but if my calculation is right i would be around 10.1 to 10.3 : 1 compression with 70 cc heads ... how much boost could i get away with safely... what do you think i could push out etc.......?

You might be able to run a little thicker head gasket to maybe drop the compression down a little more. I would say anywhere from 10-14 psi maybe (with meth for safety). You really need a F series head unit on that 408! lol

there are lots of variables, but if you get your comp. ratio down to 10 to 1, I dont see you having to much of an issue running around 10lbs. maybe a little more

and of course if you do meth you will be able to get more out of it

im no expert but 10lbs on a 408 should net somewhere between 6-700 rwhp

every setup will be different

an f-series blower would be better on a 408 but it is all about your plans for the car(how much boost, race or street car, etc.)

im sure some of the more experienced guys will chime in soon

I think you will be fine 10.0:1 with 93 and spinning that blower to the max(I doubt you will see more than 10-11 psi on that 408). I am running 9.9:1 on my 347 with 13psi on 93 and Meth

With 9.5/1 you can run 16 psi on 93 octane fuel, we have done it quite a few times. If you add methanol injection to it, the inlet air temps will drop 35-40 degrees, and you'll pick up even more power. Bob

A D-1SC is going to be on the small side for a 408. We did use one on this T/A, as the customer already had it. http://www.eppautomotiveperformance....Car.php?car=42

Take a look at the power we made on this CTS-V with an F-1A at only 12.5 psi of boost. http://www.eppautomotiveperformance....Car.php?car=29

We've run 16 psi on 93 octane without seeing detonation. The V's compression ratio is 9.5/1. Bob

Got a buddy on here topfig is his name. He runs a ZL402 (couple cubes off) Runs about 13psi on a D1SC and makes 711+ to the wheels. With a better set of heads and a meth he could probably pull more outta her.

if your looking into heads for a blown app. make sure you get something with a very good deck thickness. ETP, allpro are 2 off the top of my head. both are 1in or more deck thickness. not sure what trickflows are.

I saw 16.5 psi on my D1SC/402 setup with it just about maxed out. The only reason why he wouldn't see more than 11 psi on a maxed out D1SC is if the blower belt was slipping.
