HP gain with LS6 cam on an STS T/A?
Does anyone have any good estimates how much power there would be gained with an LS6 cam in my 1998 STS turbo'd trans am.
I'm trying to decide if this is worth the effort or not. I've heard ranges anywhere from 25 to 50 HP. I think 50 would be worth it. but that's a lot of work for 25 HP.
the car is a 98 Trans am with an STS basic turbo kit, no intercooler. wrapped exhausts with cats deleted. LS6 intake, POrted & polished MAF and throttle body.
Thanks.

i run an LS6 cam in mine and it's great for stealth and good for the budget. plus it builds lots of boost early. i would suggest unlocking lots of HP by running an Intercooler and going speed density.

hang on to it and just use it when you upgrade the turbo later. do the innercooler for now.
i love the ZO6 cam works very well look at my sig. 630 with Zo6 cam and 317 heads. but the TQ on the thing was crazy 660 @ 3800rpm

Cant really say, the mpt 70 may spool by 3k the tc78 a 3.5k But you will see a major boost in hp. The stock cam is fine the ls6 is even better but like it was posted the 60-1 will be out of steam fast. I would do the turbo first and later a cam. plus u need a intercooler big time.
