Default ATI balancer or SLP?

im building a procharged 408, and i need to know what harmonic balancer to get the ati number is 918853 i think but its $477 does slp make one, or do one of you guys have one?

Welcome to the board.

Lots of info in "search" but the ATI damper is probably the most commonly used, even though it's a little pricey. That's what I'm using. Make sure to pin it to the crank, you need the ATI pin kit.

You need to use the ATI balancer, as the ProCharger 8 rib crank pulley is designed to work with it. Bob

ok cool ill get it then, the only other question i have right now is how do i get a spring loaded tensioner i have the d1sc and the j bracket but no tensioner

SDCE sells the spring loaded tensioner. You have to send them your J bracket for them to modify it. Bob

^^Yep & its not cheap either. But there are other alternatives. Do a little searching in this section & you'll find several threads on different methods to eliminate belt slip & thorwing.

I have the ATI super damper crank pully and the SDCE spring on the J bracket and don't have and belt problems.

ok cool, also are the stock lifters ok to use in a procharged 408? ive got comp cam and pushrods. (.598 .614)

If you are building a 408 you might as well have the crank keyed instead of simply pinning it for the ATI balancer. A key is going to be much stronger than a pin and the balancer is already slotted for it.

A spring tensioner system of some type is definitely better than the standard Procharger J bracket as belts stretch as the RPM increases. Without a tensioner to take up the slack you will likely end up with slipping problems over time.
