Default Junkyard LQ9 runs 9.92@141, 4000lb race weight!

Dave's GTO with the junk yard engine is still alive and kicking. Replaced the 6sp with an 80e for this season. The engine had about 96k when it went in the car and now has over 100k. We also switched to E85 and lost the meth kit too.

The vid is from a Camara phone but it will give you an idea. Stock IRS yet, every one asks when its going to break but it is still good after 8 passes yesterday.

Vid here.

80e was built by Merchant Automotive in MI. Converter is a Vigilanti 9.5" multi-disk. We locked it up in 2nd at 55mph and let it ride through the traps.

Isn't that a LQ9? If so should last awhile with the Ls2 style rods.

It has been running for a good amount of time, and will keep dong so as long as we do not put a larger turbo on it. The way I figure it a 74mm unit cannot kill one with the new style (ls2-Lq9) rods and a good tune.

That run was Sat, and the sound was a nasty flare up on the 2-3 shift, trans will be pulled this week to figure that out. should run a 9.8 or better with that working correctly.

And the track was slippery! car would have flew with a good launch. 2-3psi on the foot brake just doesn't cut it for 60ft times. Although any better and it would have **** all of the parts out of the rear.
