They are a waste of money, I suggest not using them.

Did you or someone you know have bad luck with them? I would think having some sort of support around the cyl would help, vs the std mls gaskets which have nothing.

GM mls gaskets do have a fire ring. They are not on the outside layers though. If you look at the inside layers you will see it. I was thinking the same as you till I looked closer at one.

I just cut apart a GM 6.oL MLS gasket, and there is no fire ring

Yes I wouldn't have recommended against them otherwise. They commonly disintegrate between the cylinders as whats left of the multi layer gasket cannot offer enough radial support for the ring.

Sounded too good to be true.... So basicaly the ring pushes out of the gasket? Would this be better with a smaller bore that has more gasket between the cyl's?

I guess I shouldn't call it a fire ring, but a raised lip. I can't speak for all the gaskets, but could have swore I noticed a rasied lip on the 5 layer gaskets. Maybe it crushes out when you torque the heads and don't notice it on used gaskets???

Yes the ring and mls just completely disintegrates between the cylinders. By design it has no radial strength.

A smaller bore might be 'better' but still not as good as an LS9 gasket in my opinion.

If given to me I would not use them.

I have them on my LS2 402 TT Z06 and haven't had any problems with them.

How much boost, and what RWHP #'s are you pushing with them?

Right now its tuned with 7 pounds of boost as it is severely traction limited. It's making about 730 at the wheels. It's seen 18 pounds but not consistently as it was blowing the clutch away on the dyno. So, I don't have any long term results. The cars had these head gaskets on it for about 2 years. The car is driven very rarely.
