I too have a GN, and wanted to ask that same ?? for my on going LS turbo build. Anyway cash is low. Think i will just get the waste gate first, then the BOV if needed.

i cant see not having one being good for the turbo. thats alot of air slamming against the throttle body blade and concussing back to the impeller. that cant be good for it

plus my turbosmart raceport sounds fuggen awesome!

If it's so bad to not have one, why didn't GM install on on the Grand National?

My turbo talon autos have factory blow offs .Maybe as said they didn't realize they needed one or didn't have them back in the 80s. My talons were from like 1990 on.
I am running two on my 99TT.

I'm not running BOV yet and my turbo pipes keep getting blown away no matter what. Happens when I close the throttle. So I guess I'll have to get BOV now...

I like diverter/bypass valves instead of bov. havent found a bov that has that too awesome sound yet. When i do i will use it. The tnetics duo35 sounds pretty cool tho.

Bead weld the ends of the pipes and add t-clamps. Problem solved.

No, not at all. Last time I thought I've done everything right since pipes didn't come off in 1/4 runs, BUT when I did 0-155mph run, pipes fell off again. Although I must admit that pipe had short rubber connector on it, not x-ply silicone

I'm pretty sure that most turbos can take the stress, everyone thinks they are so fragile.
im starting to think i might be going this route if i cant get the BOV to stay shut when i get the car boosted. My BOV is the only thing leaking pressure right now.

Cheap insurance. Compressor surge does nasty things to snails.

Most people talking about needing one have read it on the net and you know they can't tell a lie on the Internet! The wastegate dumps boost so why is a blowoff valve necessary? My Duramax that makes 30psi doesn't have a BOV and the turbo has 220k miles it still works great!

im gonna see if this BOV does its job and holds at boost, but if it still causes me greif, then ill be another auto without a BOV lol sill miss the occasional BOV sound though lol sounded pretty cool

I've always used one and never had a issue with it leaking. But I'm building another fairmont and I've decided to try this one without a bov it might be a mistake but I'm going to try it.

Its cheap why wouldn't you just get one anyways? After actually turboing your car why not just spend the little money to be safe. Sure you can get away with not running one but just do it right!
