good question. I want to do a turbo motor this winter and run off e85. I know the octane rating of e85 is very similar to race fuel but i dont think it carries the same cooling effect that goes with meth injection

well just remember if you run e85 you need more fuel 30% roughly more so bigger injectors and fuel pump factory might work with high psi not sure I'm running large pump and 160 injectors but you will also need a tune and most hardest and important is there plenty of stations around you that carry e85 most don't so as for price and effort over all get a snow meth kit and so be it the purpose is to keep the ia cooler and will burn cooler too so you can run more timing for more power and massconfusion ya e85 is about 105 octane but hold the same labortory octane and results as c16 runs supper cool and the best thing is e85 $2.88 gal c16 $12.00 gal

im just goin straight e85. Ive had a couple friends alky tanks run dry and kill their stuff. remember that alchohol is a fuel too, so if youre adding 30% for e85, youre technically running your car lean on injectors only, and adding extra fuel from the meth to get to your desired A/F. For the cost of an alky kit and 60# injectors, you can get yourself an extra pump and 80s

As just stated ^ - E85 is in your fuel tank and you don't need to watch a secondary system to make sure it also has Meth ( or whatever you are using )
With that in mind, as stated running your Pump and injectors to 110% is no good either so you must be cautious that your fuel system can keep up.
Summer E85 is roughly 105 octane- I think the additional benifit of running only E85 is due to the Tuning, and with an Added injection system you can't be sure that it is always running constantly in any given environment. As well as the temperature control that comes inherently with E85- The system is going to come down in Temp slightly, and have more Exhaust gas- making any Turbo system run slightly different as well ( usually better ) . With your procharged setup it would be interesting to see.
If you can run E85 without buying any additional parts then run out there and try it out. Its hard to express how the fuel is different than E10/E15, so if you can try it then you will be able to really decide about if you like it or not.
+ The smell is fun =)

here in michigan every third gas station sells e85 so that wont be a problem.
i was thinking the same thing as a couple of you guys; if e85 will give me the same benefit as meth injection without having to install a separate pump/injection setup that can run dry or malfunction why not go that route.
the way i see my situation is that i have to buy larger injectors anyways for the SCer so thats money i would have to spend anyways, i already have a walbro intank pump installed bought and paid for so thats not gonna cost anything, and i have to get a tune after its all installed so thats money i would have to spend anyways too. but if i went with a meth kit it would cost me the price of the kit + install to get what looks like the same results as going with e85.

Our shop has had nothing but good luck with E85. We had a Whipple 2.3 cobra come in not too long ago...stock motor, right down to the stock manifolds..just with a bigger blower. Car made 610rw or so on C16. Simply switching to E85, the car made 710rw..no other changes at all. Car obviously had the fuel system to support the fuel, but the cooling effect on a FI car can pay big HP gains when using E85
