I'm concerned a bit with cruise RPM too. How do those 3.73s cruise on the 28s? Which 28" are you running?

3.27 sounds good. I'm running 13psi now... plan to go bigger once the TH400 is in.

Lately I have been thinking about going to go to a 3.08 gear. It sucks driving my car on the highway with 3.73's.

A TH400 turbo converter will make or break the combo, spend money on a good converter.
Best thing said in here, this is the truth.

We run a 3.08 in maxxmitchell's car, it drives so nice down the highway and can still 60ft (1.4x). https://ls1tech.com/forums/forced-in...-6-0-76mm.html

I also ran a 3.00 gear last year in my rx7 with a 30" tire, it makes for driving it so much nicer if you do a lot of highway driving or road trips at all. If you make enough power(which you should), the lack of gearing won't bother you that much.

Now these two cars could be faster with the correct gear, but with as much street driving as we do it's a lot nicer to have a little less gear.

I put a 3.00 gear in mine, but its bc I have a 26inch tire and I mainly street drive. Also I found the gear local for cheap.

Most of the turbo guys on theturboforums like the 3.25 and the 3.08 gear. I may switch to the 3.25 after I get the car to the track and see what it does.

Also a 3.08 on a 28inch tire should cruise simalar to a 4 speed auto with a 3.73

I should say with the 3.00 gear I had in the rx7 and the 30" tire I cruised at 70mph at 2200rpm, lol.

Strange 3.25s in the rear end and the TH400 in place and I'm cruising @ 60mph right about 2400RPM on a 28" tire.

I'm guessing I'm going to pick up .1-.2 in my 60' times and probably .5-.6 total in the 1/4. Street driving isn't bad... but starting from a roll isnt nearly as exciting as it was w/the m6.

Still havent gotten to the track yet though.

With your setup don't even think, just do it. Autos and turbos are made for each other. It's so much easier to drive out of situations such as this... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1voLZmIPfCQ

The M6 was a blast to drive too.. but at the 650WHP+ mark, driving a car with that much power becomes even more unpredictable when you unload and load the suspension between each gear and just hope that the suspension gets the power to the ground. I was spinning 28" MT ET Drags on the street @ over 80mph before...

Now the car is much more predictable and only really spins/floats to about 60mph...

That's exactly my point, a good auto setup makes the car much more predictable and recoverable in lower traction situations and it allows you to drive out of those situations much easier. In that video I posted I was peddling that thing till around 70 mph and short shifted into 2nd gear ~2 seconds off the line and it would never go that smoothly with a manual trans.

325/50-15s on a not very clean surface. It was too windy to do much of any prep so at most we just sprayed the first 60 ft.

I agree with what both NicD and Eagle02 with having better control with a TH400. When it gets hairy with a TH400 usually all you have to do is up shift and ease off the throttle and it settles down. Most of my passes at the drag strip are pretty relaxed with only one hand holding the steering wheel making small corrections.

As for downshifting, just make sure you are on the throttle before downshifting and don't go down to 1st gear. Even with my highway gears I almost never have to downshift to 1st on the street.

Even the die hard 6spd guys usually like the TH400s after switching. I know I did.
