6.0...blow through turbo setup with 700+rwhp on pump gas??
ok guys i have a couple questions for a friend of mine that is thinking about going this route with his malibu. he has an lq9 motor ready and waiting. here is the plan he wants to make whatever it takes at the wheels to go mid 9's and close to 145mph in the 1/4 on pump gas. he is planning on piston/rod upgrade, max ported 317 heads, custom ground turbo cam, victor carbed intake, c&s carb, ptc convertor with either a th350 or th400. headers and turbo are still up in the air as not sure what size to tell him to go with, i was thinking an s480 or so. this biggest thing is he is wanting to do this all on pump gas so i need to know what it will take to do it. should we try to keep the compression low at like 9.0 or go closer to 10.0? im thinking he will be limited to around 10-12psi on pump gas. is it possible to just leave the bottom end stock with just a bolt upgrade and stock cubes and go this fast at that weight? really jusst looking for guidance to tell him which way to go to do all this on pump gas and possible stock cubes. thanks for the help guys

Malibu.s are not that heavy so ,700_800rwhp with a good suspension set up will get him there. There have been some to push the stock lq9 to 800 hp but the tune was spot on and meth was used. I would go ahead and do the rods and pistons, the crank is fine for the hp goal. As far as carbs hell i cant tell u lol.

lol darooke how is the having someone else build your **** working out for you. as for meth im not opposed to doing it as i have it on my car as well. i guess he is mostly looking to get to a 142-145mph and then working on the suspension to get his et faster and faster.

ok talked to the owner that wants to do this and advised him that it might be easier to go with fuel injection, meth for more boost and XFI...are the goals doable now with that setup?

You can put 15 psi to that bottom end, no problem on pump gas. Just gotta back the timing way off and keep the RPM's down (try to stay under 6500) by gearing accordingly. He will have plenty of torque as long as all the electronics are setup correctly and he can get some boost out of the hole. Definetly would recommend using some sort of fuel injection. I've heard that the whole blow thru thing is a huge PITA.
